News or Bulletins are informational items usually shown immediately, or
selected from a list. Reading all such available items can be time
consuming.
P

Files are programs you can download and try on your PC. Typically, files
are games, utilities and productivity enhancement programs such as the
Silver Xpress Mail Reader. Knowing what is all available can be time
consuming.

BBS mail is normally divided into categories LOCAL, FORUMS or ECHOS, and
NETMAIL. If the category is not shared with another BBS, the mail is
known as LOCAL mail. This chart illustrates how mail is normally divided:
┌──────┐ ┌───────────────────────────────┐
│ MAIL ├──────┬─────┤ LOCAL MAIL (PRIVATE OR PUBLIC)│
└──────┘ │ └───────────────────────────────┘
│ ┌───────────────────────────────┐
├─────┤ DIRECT NETWORK MAIL │
│ └───────────────────────────────┘
│ ┌───────────────────────────────┐
├─────┤ FORUM CONFERENCE NUMBER 1 │
│ └───────────────────────────────┘
│ ┌───────────────────────────────┐
└─────┤ FORUM CONFERENCE NUMBER 2 │
└───────────────────────────────┘
In the Main Section, you will have to JOIN or SELECT the MAIL Conference to
read, or create mail on the BBS.
P
By joining the conference, you effectively "selected" the conference as a
mail area of interest. The conference may be about Programming, Word
Processing, Legal Matters, etc. There are over 1000 different Forums or
"echos" as they are some times called in the BBS world. In order for the
BBS to have these "Shared" forums, it must be part of a computer network.
Each BBS will pass files and messages to one another.
P
So if you enter a message in a LOCAL area, the message will not travel to
other bulletin board systems. If you enter a message in a ECHO or FORUM
area, the message will travel across the network. There is a special area
called DIRECT MAIL or NETMAIL. If you enter a message in the NETMAIL area,
the message is sent directly to the BBS where the recipient is located.
As illustrated, you can spend hours on the BBS reading local mail,
participating in national forums or sending costly netmail to individuals.
Silver Xpress is designed to manage the BBS mail system more effectively
for you thus saving you time and money.

This option will hangup your modem and log you off the BBS.

Each BBS has special settings for the user. The options allow you to change
these settings. The options include VIDEO selection, HOTKEY selection,
LANGUAGE selection, Change in Name or Password, etc.

Silver Xpress puts all the features you find in a BBS together and allows
you to effectively search for mail and new files.
Silver Xpress allows you to "Select" all the mail forums of interest
and allows you to scan and collect new messages for reading while you are
disconnected from the BBS.

Once you have received the Xpress Mail packet, you may begin to logoff.
If you have created mail, you can send it to Silver Xpress and Xpress
will move it into the appropriate mail areas.
You can log off once you have the Xpress Mail Packet on your PC!
You just collected a vast amount of mail in a short period of time. Now
you can use the Silver Xpress Mail Reader to read your mail.
