Here's The Second Release Of The Scumliners PPE. So Far I've Changed The
Oneliners To Print Better (Exactly Under The Border) and Made The Source Run
Just A Bit Faster By Cleaning Up Some Of The Loops And Variables.
The Major Ad-on is the new Auto-Advertiser. If you have a really important
message or just want to advertise for someone, put the prompt in the
scumline.cfg and put the number of times the oneliner is used until the
prompt is displayed again. The number is stored in the counter.dat, and if
you do not have one, it will create one. There are three options for this
one ad-on. See the config file for details. Again, this feature is TOTALY
optional. You can easily disable it in the config file.
Yet Another Ad-on in this version is the WHO wrote this sh** option. The
default setting is with the WHO enabled. If you choose to disable this function
change the prompts in the config file to meet your uses. there are a total of 6
new options. 3 for each of the 2 new ad-ons! Also, The who realizes if liners
existed before the who.dat was created AND is aware of the auto-advertiser so
it doesn't put the current user's name in the who.dat when the ad gets put in!
The Major bugfix is in the SCUMLINE.DAT file. In v1.0 the liners worked fine.
BUT if you were to edit the .DAT file with a text editor you would see scattered
parts of old oneliners everywhere past the MAXLINE. Now, in version 2.o, that
problem is solved. =)
I made this oneliner as configurable as I can see possible. You can edit
the top and bottom borders, the character that comes before each oneliner,
the default color of the oneliner (changes if users add color codes), AND
the two prompts that are displayed to the users. If you have any other cfg
suggestions, you can reach me at the number I will specify later on in the
Document.
Ok, I'll keep this short and sweet. You Can install this ppe just about
anywhere. I prefer either the LOGON SCRIPT or someplace else in the logon
AS WELL AS in the Bulletins. I set the oneliner to quit if any key is
pressed other than "e" for Enter a Oneliner. This is because users whom do
not want to use this ppe can easily skip it if it is in the logon procedure.
The only important thing is that the PPE and CFG HAVE to be in the same
directory and if you want the TOP and BOT files, make sure they are in the
same dir as the ppe too.
Here is a listing of the files that come with this ppe:
SCUMLINE.PPE -- The Actual Compiled Program
SCUMLINE.CFG -- The Configuration File (See The File For Details)
*SCUMLINE.TOP -- The Border To Be Printed At The Top Of The Oneliners
*SCUMLINE.BOT -- The Border To Be Printed At The Bottom Of The Oneliners
*SCUMLINE.DOC -- The Documentation (The File You Are Reading Right Now, Duh)
*SCUMLINE.DAT -- The File That Stores The Oneliners
*COUNTER.DAT -- The Data File That Counts Each Time The Oneliner Is Activated
*WHO.DAT -- The Data File That Stores Who Wrote Each Oneliner
*Not needed (Program Will Create, Or Continue Normally Without Using Them)
NOTE: Any Changing of the FILENAMES will result in the ppe not working
properly =)
Any bugs that you find you can report to Virtual Nightmare 2o1-895-XXXX
Trader's Outpost 2o1-402-XXXX (your on your own with the NUP too) and leave
a note to the SysOp and hopefully he'll relay the message to me =) or else
look for me, ry0, somewhere in the 2o1 area code!
