FastFake v1.22 [pcb151] documents
This documentation is re-written, because FastFake is so easy to install
that you don't need any further advice.
FastFake requires at least:
- MS-DOS version 5.00
- PCBoard version 15.1
Installation:
1) Copy all files inside the package to some specified directory like
D:\PCB\FASTFAKE.
2) Edit FASTFAKE.CNF file. The format is:
Line 1: Use alias, enter Y or N (this might not work yet).
Line 2: Left bracket of faking text (Examples: ", >>, etc. max. 10 chars.).
Line 3: Right bracket of faking text (max. 10 chars.)
Line 4: Allow faker send a message to user, whose upload has been faked.
(Enter U to send message to the user only, enter S to send
message to the sysop only, or enter B to send message to the
user and the sysop. Any other will disable this function)
Line 5: Conference number to send message to. (Enter -1 to make FastFake
send the message to the conference, user is currently in.
Line 6: Security level required to send a message to another user.
Line 7: Required security-level to allow users to move/delete faked file(s).
Line 8: Directory to move faked file (must exist! Otherwise the file
will be destroyed!)
Line 9: Security level needed to fake already faked files
Line 10: Maximum number of lines for faking-text (1-15).
Line 11: Path\filename to fake-database file (leave blank to disable function)
Line 12: Path\filename to badnames-list file (leave blank for no bad names)
Line 13: Security level needed to ask uploader's name before updating the
database.

3) Edit FASTFAKE.DAT file. In this file, the upload-directory files and
conferences are specified. For example if you want users to be able to
fake files in conference #10, the upload-directory file of that
conference is located at D:\PCB\CONF10\UPLD and the file to fake is
located at D:\FILES\CONF10\UPLOADS, it would look something like:
10
D:\PCB\CONF10\UPLD
D:\FILES\CONF10\UPLOADS
[-----------CUT HERE-----------]
As you can see, each conference is specified by two blocks.
Well, the format of this file is quite hard to explain, so here's
an example of my FASTFAKE.DAT file:
0 <--Conference #0 (main board)
d:\pcb\main\upld <--Main Board upload-directory file
d:\files\uploads <--Upload-directory
1 <--Conference #2
d:\pcb\pcbsupp\upld <--And its' upload-directory file
d:\files\bbs\uploads <--Upload-directory
11 <--Conference #11
d:\pcb\if\upld <--And its' upload-directory file
d:\files\if\uploads <--Upload-directory
[-----------CUT HERE-----------]
I'm currently (in the example up there) allowing users to fake in
three conferences (0, 3 and 11).
You can specify unlimited number of conferences!
4) Edit your CMD.LST file (in PCBSETUP.EXE) and add a slot for FastFake.
5) [Not necessary]. If you want FastFake to allow users send a message,
a file FASTFAKE.MSG must exist in the directory of FastFake. It should
contain some information, what is the message about or something.
6) Your copy of FastFake should work now, but if it doesn't, check
all the configuration settings, or contact me - I will always be
delighted to help you. ;)
[ End of installation-steps. ]
