  10.                       Reading the WinOnLine Review

  13.     The WinOnLine REVIEW is distributed in the Windows HELP (.HLP)
  14. file format and requires Windows 3.1. You may use the convenient 
  15. installation program or view it manually.
  16.     
  17.                      *** Automatic Installation ***
  18.  
  19.     Click on the INSTALL.EXE from within File Manager, or choose
  20. FILE/RUN and type the path and INSTALL.EXE. The program will allow
  21. you to choose the default or your own drive and directory, and will
  22. advise you of the disk space required. A program group and icon are
  23. created for the WinOnLine Review Help file and this README.TXT file
  24. for your convenience.
  25.     A very few third party Program Manager replacements have minor
  26. problems with this install routine and may not insert the working
  27. directory in the launch properties dialog. If you have problems
  28. launching the magazine from the installed icon, please check and
  29. update that field if necessary. If you have difficulties with the
  30. installation program or viewing the magazine, please contact the
  31. Editor, Bob Gollihur through a Sysop comment at Windows OnLine 
  32. (510-736-8343), Internet bob.gollihur@wol.com, or CIS 71334,2065

  36.                           *** Manual Viewing ***
  37.  
  38. To view the HELP file directly, without installing it, simply
  39. unzip the contents of the ZIP file into its own directory and double
  40. click on the file name xxxxxx.HLP. The WOL.DLL, which is within
  41. the .ZIP file, must be in the same subdirectory as the .HLP file.
  42. Additional files will be created to accompany the .HLP file whenever
  43. the xxxxxx.HLP is run.

  45.     If it does not automatically load into the WinHelp program then
  46. you will need to associate the extension (.HLP) to that program.
  47. You do that by locating the [extensions] section of your WIN.INI
  48. file and add the following line to it:

  50.                           HLP=WINHELP.EXE ^.HLP
  51.  
  52.     After you add the above line, exit and restart Windows.
  53.  
  54.     Once you make that association you should not have to do it again.
  55. You can now read all .HLP (HELP) files by simply clicking on them with
  56. your mouse.
  57.  
  58.     Another way to view our HELP file is to simple "RUN" the program
  59. WINHELP.EXE and load our file into it.
  60.  
  61.     First time readers and those new to the Windows Help system will
  62. find a readers' guide in the Table of Contents. Simply click on the
  63. magazine's Contents button at the top of the page to reach it.

  65.               *** De-installing the WinOnLine Review ***
  66.  
  67.     If you have used the automatic installation program, erase
  68. your destination directory. WOL.DLL may be removed from your
  69. WINDOWS directory unless you have other WinOnLine publications
  70. you wish to continue to view. Finally, delete the program group that was created.
