  1. TopDesk for Windows 95/NT v2.1
  2. A freeware product from SnadBoy Software

  12. Installation:
  13. Copy the TopDesk.EXE file to the directory of your choice, e.g. C:\WINDOWS.
  14. Create a shortcut to the EXE file and place the shortcut in your StartUp
  15. menu; typically, C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp.  That's all folks!!!
  16.  
  17. Use:
  18. TopDesk is accessed by either clicking on the TopDesk icon in the system
  19. task bar or by a user defined hot key.
  20.     Left mouse click menu
  21.                 system objects *        Such things as 'My Computer' and
  22.                                         'Inbox'.
  23.                 file objects *          All files, folders and shortcuts
  24.                                         residing on the desktop.
  25.                 Desktop In Window       Opens a windows containing all the
  26.                                         elements of your desktop.
  27.                 Display Properties      Open the 'Display Properties' dialog. 
  28.                         * A left click on these desktop objects will result
  29.                         in the system defined 'default action' being carried
  30.                         out - typically, Open.  A right click will result in
  31.                         the context menu for the selected item being
  32.                         displayed.  The same flexibility can be achieved
  33.                         from the keyboard by using Enter as a left mouse
  34.                         click and CTRL + Enter as a right mouse click.
  35.                         (to avoid timing problems, after pressing Enter
  36.                         continue to hold the CTRL key down until the context
  37.                         menu appears.)

  39.     Right mouse click menu
  40.                 About   Presents the about box.  Various options are set
  41.                         here.
  42.                 Exit    Exits TopDesk. 
  43.  
  44.     Hot Key 
  45.                 The menu resulting from the hot key will be the same as
  46.                 the 'Left mouse click menu' listed above.
  47.                 NOTE:  The hot key is set in the about box.
  48.  
  49.     Elimination of the startup splash screen can be set in the about box.
  50.  
  51.     Menu icons, large (32x32), small (16x16) or none can be specified in the about box.
  52.         Users with slower CPUs and/or video cards may find TopDesk too sluggish 
  53.         when using icons.
  54.  
  55. Known Bugs:
  56.     The 'Send To' sub-menu comes up 'Empty'.
