  13. If you have an installation diskette, place it in your a: drive and run 
  14. A:\SETUP.EXE.  The installation program will guide you through the 
  15. installation process.
  16.  
  17. If you have a zipped version of the program (e.g. WWIPERS.ZIP) then copying
  18. this .ZIP file to a subdirectory (e.g. C:\WWIPERS) and using PKUNZIP to
  19. decompress the files will give you a working version of Window Wipers.
  20. Note: You will need PKZIP 2.04g or higher.

  23. II. INSTALLING TO A NETWORK
  24. ---------------------------
  25. If you are installing from an installation disk in a networked environment
  26. and the above procedure does not work, then perform the following steps:
  27. 1. Copy A:\SETUPKIT.DLL to your Windows directory using File Manager.
  28. 2. Copy A:\VBRUN300.DLL to your Windows directory using File Manager.
  29. 3. Copy A:\VER.DL_ to your Windows directory, and rename it VER.DLL.
  30. 4. Run A:\SETUP1.EXE from Program Manager.
  31. Note: You must have a site license if multiple users run this program
  32. from the network.

  35. III. TROUBLESHOOTING
  36. --------------------
  37. 1. Problem   : The install program fails trying to install the SETUPKIT.DL_
  38.            file.
  39.    Resolution: Follow the instructions for INSTALLING TO A NETWORK above.
  40.  
  41. 2. Problem   : The install program fails with the error "One or more Visual
  42.            Basic applications are running."
  43.    Resolution: Close the offending application. It may be necessary to
  44.            press Ctrl-Esc to bring up the task list and click on
  45.            "End Task" to close the offending application. If you are
  46.            not sure which applications are Visual Basic applications,
  47.            then close all programs except for Program Manager.
  48.  
  49. 3. Problem   : The install program fails with the error that the THREED.VBX
  50.            file could not be installed.
  51.    Resolution: Check to see if an older version of THREED.VBX exists in your
  52.            Windows or System directory (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\THREED.VBX or
  53.            C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\THREED.VBX). If so, RENAME this file to
  54.            THREED.OLD (for backup purposes), reboot your system, and try
  55.            the installation procedure again.

  57. 4. Problem   : Forgot password.
  58.    Resolution: If you forget your password you will need to edit 
  59.            the file WINWIPE.INI in your windows directory
  60.            (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\WINWIPE.INI). Open this file up in NotePad
  61.            and look for the line that starts with "Password=" (it will
  62.            be in the section labeled "[MASTER]"). Carefully delete this
  63.            line and save the file. This will disable the Window Wipers
  64.            password and you will have to go back to the password dialog
  65.            to establish a new one.
  66.  
  67. 5. Problem   : Window Wipers does not start working when started in 
  68.            minimized state.
  69.    Resolution: The shareware version requires you to click "OK" on the
  70.            introduction screen before screen saving will begin.
  71.  
  72. 6. Problem   : Some configuration settings cause screen savers to run slow.
  73.    Resolution: Since PC's vary in speed, monitor resolutions, etc., all
  74.            configuration combinations for a particular screen saver
  75.            may not work well on your system. Experiment to find those 
  76.            that do.
  77.            
  78. 7. Problem   : Constant disk activity on the "Puzzle" screen saver.
  79.    Resolution: Change screen resolutions. Due to this screen saver's high
  80.            graphical content it does not work well with some screen
  81.            resolutions, particularly if video ram is low.

  83. 8. Problem   : Some screen savers (e.g. "Mirrors" and "InkSpill") do not
  84.            work well with some bitmap wallpapers.
  85.    Resolution: Due to the technique used in these screen savers and the
  86.            resulting random nature, some wallpapers will have less
  87.            appealing results than others. In particular, some 256 color
  88.            (and higher) bitmaps do not work well.

  91. IV. WARRANTY
  92. ------------
  93. VISUAL ADVANTAGE, INC. DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES RELATING TO THIS SOFTWARE, 
  94. WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED 
  95. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, 
  96. AND ALL SUCH WARRANTIES ARE EXPRESSLY AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMED. 
  97. NEITHER VISUAL ADVANTAGE, INC. NOR ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS BEEN INVOLVED 
  98. IN THE CREATION, PRODUCTION, OR DELIVERY OF THIS SOFTWARE SHALL BE LIABLE 
  99. FOR ANY INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE 
  100. USE OR INABILITY TO USE SUCH SOFTWARE EVEN IF VISUAL ADVANTAGE, INC. HAS 
  101. BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES OR CLAIMS. IN NO EVENT SHALL 
  102. VISUAL ADVANTAGE, INC.'S LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES EVER EXCEED THE PRICE 
  103. PAID FOR THE LICENSE TO USE THE SOFTWARE, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF CLAIM. 
  104. THE PERSON USING THE SOFTWARE BEARS ALL RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND 
  105. PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE.

  107. Some states do not allow the exclusion of the limit of liability for 
  108. consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitation may not 
  109. apply to you.

  111. This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Kentucky 
  112. and shall inure to the benefit of Visual Advantage, Inc. and any 
  113. successors, administrators, heirs and assigns. Any action or proceeding 
  114. brought by either party against the other arising out of or related to 
  115. this agreement shall be brought only in a STATE or FEDERAL COURT of 
  116. competent jurisdiction located in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The parties 
  117. hereby consent to in personam jurisdiction of said courts.
