  1. The README.1ST file

  4. This is the short list of important items concerning LightWaves v1.21.
  5. The On-line Help contains a fully detailed description of the entire
  6. program.
  7.  
  8. The file PRES.BAK is a backup copy of the PRES.DEF file which contains
  9. the information needed to start the program.
  10.  
  11. LightWaves is a MultiThreaded, PM application.
  12. LightWaves v1.21 has been tested for OS/2 v2.1, 2.11 & 2.99
  13. LightWaves v1.21 requires MMPM/2 v1.1 be installed in OS/2
  14. LightWaves v1.21 and any 1.X version is FREEWARE
  15. LightWaves v1.21 will only display Windows Bitmap (*.BMP) files.
  16. Lightwaves v1.21 will only play Wave (.WAV) audio and MIDI (.MID) files.
  17. LightWaves v1.21 will support Compact Disc audio through a CD-ROM device.
  18. LightWaves v1.21 uses Color Palette Management.
  19. LightWaves v1.21 will allow you to cycle a presentation for unattended
  20.                      demonstrations.

  22. INSTALLATION:
  23. =============
  24. To install lightwaves, simply uncompress the files, create a directory
  25. for it and place all the files in that directory.  Do not move the
  26. On-Line Help (.INF) file or the Wave (.WAV) files from this directory.

  28. If copying these files from a CD-ROM be sure none of the files are marked
  29. READ ONLY after copying them, most importantly the PRES.DEF file.
  30. To avoid this problem copy the files from an OS/2 or DOS session and by
  31. dragging and droping in the desktop.

  33. Create a Program object on your desktop for LightWaves or run
  34. LightWaves from the command line like so:

  36. Example  C:\directory\lightwav.exe
  37.  
  38. Where 'C:\directory\' is the drive and directory in which LightWaves
  39. was installed, 'lightwav.exe' is the executable file name.
  40.  
  41. PRESENTATION NOTE:
  42. ==================
  43. When a presentation is started, LightWaves starts with a black screen. Just
  44. press the Spacebar to proceed.  Each presentation will end in the same way.
  45. Those with CD-ROM drives will experience a 1 - 2 second delay before being
  46. able to start the presentation from the black screen, this was unavoidable.

  48. Users of LightWaves v1.0 & v1.1:
  49. ================================
  50. Users of LightWaves v1.0 will NOT be able to use their current
  51. presentation files (.PRS) with LightWaves v1.21.  Users of LightWaves v1.1
  52. will can use thier presentations with v1.21 with no conversions required.
