  21.  
  22. AutoCAD 386 (Protected Mode) Releases 10/11/12, 3D-Studio 2.0, and
  23. AutoShade with Renderman 2.0 are all supported by DL-Xpress.

  25. 1.1     Resolution and Color Depth Support:

  58. 2.0     Installation Notes for AutoDesk Products
  59.  
  60. 1) Run INSTALL from Disk #1 of the mach64 diskettes.
  61.  
  62. 2) Select Drivers Installation from the Main Menu.
  63.  
  64. 3) From the Install Enhanced Drivers menus select one of the following:
  65.  
  66.         AutoCAD
  67.         Autodesk 3D Studio
  68.         AutoShade
  69.  
  70. 4) Follow the screen instructions to completion.
  71.  
  72. 5) When INSTALL reports that the driver has been successfully installed,
  73.    exit the install program.
  74.  
  75. 6) All the AutoDesk products require environment variables to be loaded
  76.    prior to starting the application.  The INSTALL program creates
  77.    batch files that contain all the necessary Set statements.  These
  78.    batch files will be located in the directory specified during the
  79.    driver installation. The following are the default batch file names:
  80.  
  81.         AutoCAD R10, R11 and R12        ADIACAD.BAT
  82.         AutoDesk 3D Studio R2           ADI3DS.BAT
  83.         AutoShade with Renderman        ADISHADE.BAT
  84.  
  85. 7) After running the appropriate batch file, refer to your Autodesk
  86.    documentation for information on how to select and reconfigure the
  87.    display driver.

  92. 3.0     Known problems:
  93.  
  94. 1280x1024 is only supported at 8 bpp (256 colors) on ISA mach64 products.
  95.  
  96. 24 BPP is not currently supported on ISA mach64 products at resolutions 
  97. greater than 800x600.

  99. 1280x1024 is only supported at 8 bpp (256 colors) on non-linear aperture 
  100. configurations

  102. 24 BPP is not currently supported on non-linear aperture configurations at 
  103. resolutions greater than 800x600.

  107. Configuring mode:
  108. Selecting No when asked, KEEP CONFIGURATION CHANGE <Y>, does not restore 
  109. the old mode; it will actually change to the mode just configured.

  111. Anti-Aliasing
  112. DLX-Press command DLXAA (anti-aliasing) does not work.
  113.  
  114. 24 Bit mode
  115. Images rendered at 8bpp will cause the viewport to display white, when 
  116. viewed at 24bpp (display and render mode)

  119. Viewport
  120. Rendering a drawing to a Viewport, causes the cross hairs to turn red.
  121.  
  122. Configuring a mode, after a viewport render has occured will result in 
  123. the command prompt disappearing.  The command prompt will remain invisable 
  124. until the screen is refreshed.

  126. Reconfiguring Render Engine
  127. After replaying a rendered file, a vertical bar appears

  134. 3D Constuction lines
  135. Random lines appear after selecting 3D-Construction menu.

  137. Copying objects may cause the orginal objects display a differenct color
  138.  
  139. Earlier versions of AutoCAD may require the phar lap extender patch, 
  140. newdx.exe and apatch.exe inorder to function correctly with the mach32 
  141. drivers.

  147. Drawing Order
  148. Zooming may cause an ordering problem, where the drawing order of objects 
  149. may be reveresed.  To correct the problem set WORLD SPACE PARTITION to NO 
  150. under the DIPSLAY LIST OPTION.

  154. AUTOSHADE
  155.  
  156. Saved File Format
  157. Check marks, which indicate the format in which to save a file, do appear 
  158. when replaying a shade file.  The last format you seleced, will not be 
  159. marked you will have to remember it.

  162. 3D Studio
  163.  
  164. 3D-Studio Release 3 is NOT supported by this driver.  Please refer to 
  165. your 3D Studio Release 3 manual for further information regarding mach64 
  166. support.
  167.  
  168. 3D Studio R3 is slow loading.
  169.

  172. 3.1     3D Studio's 3DS.SET file
  173.  
  174. After installing DL-Xpress, you will need to modify the 3DS.SET file
  175. located in your 3D Studio directory.  These changes tell 3D Studio that
  176. you are using DL-Xpress RCPADI driver.  Once these changes are made they 
  177. will not need to be done again.
  178.  
  179. Use your favorite word processor (remember to save in text mode only!) to
  180. make the changes described below. Please be aware that the line numbers
  181. given are approximate, though they should indicate the general vicinity of
  182. the parameter.

  185. ***   Rendering Driver

  187. It is necessary to modify the Rendering Driver section of the 3DS.SET file
  188. to set DL-Xpress as the default rendering driver. To do this change line
  189. 123 as outlined below:
  190.  
  191.       Old line 123 (approx.):
  192.             DEFAULT-DISPLAY = "VGA300X200"
  193.  
  194.       New line 123 (approx.):
  195.             DEFAULT-DISPLAY = "RCPADI"
  196.  
  197. Should you need to use a different rendering driver than Dl-Xpress,
  198. you can select a new one from within 3D Studio by selecting Render,
  199. Setup.  Configure from the main menu and choosing a different display driver.

  204. Next, set Dl-Xpress to be the Main Display driver. To do this, change
  205. line 139 by removing the semicolon, as outlined  below:

  216. Finally, set Dl-Xpress to be the Materials Editor driver by removing the
  217. semicolon in line 146:
