UUxT-GUI 1.0 -- Intuition Frontend for UUxT
-------------------------------------------
Written by Asher Feldman
------------------------
NOTE: UUxT-GUI should be used with UUxT version 2.1 ONLY. It will
not function correctly when used with previous versions.
UUxT-GUI requires reqtools.library V38 or higher in your libs: directory.
To install reqtools.library, execute the included install script, or
double-click on the install icon from workbench. Reqtools.library is
(c) 1991/1992 Nico Franτois. Thanks!!
UUxT-GUI requires LhA in your logical command path (i.e. 'c:') for the
"LhAencode", and "LhAdecode" options. LhA is copyrighted 1992 by Stefan
Boberg. If you do not have LhA, it is available on most networks, as well
as the fish disks.
UUxT-GUI requires UUxT 2.1 in your logical command path (i.e 'c:').
Intro
-----
UUxT-GUI is an intuition interface to UUxT 2.1. It has a slick 3D look,
even under 1.3. It allows you to do nearly everything UUxT can do, but
from the workbench. The only thing the workbench frontend will not let
you do is to decode or encode multiple uuencoded files. This should be
ramified in the next release. You can however LhA + UUencode multiple
files from UUxT-GUI.
Usage
-----
Below is a ASCII rendition of the UUxT-GUI window, when it is first started.

(1) InFile File Requester -- When you hit this gadget, a file requester
will open, allowing you to choose the "InFile". You may double-click
on a file name to select it. When decoding, the infile is the file to
be decoded. When encoding the infile is the file to be encoded.
(2) InFile String Box -- This is where the name of the InFile is put. When
you choose a file from the requester, the name is but here. You may
also type into it manually. You can only type ONE filename into this
requester, as it everything in it is treated as a single file name,
even if there are spaces. There is one exception to this however,
when you are doing a LhAencode. In this instance, you may enter
multiple file names, separated by a space. All operations require
an infile.
(3) OutFile File Requester -- When you hit this gadget, a file requester
will open. This file requester allows you to choose the OutFile. The
outfile is used only in encode operations, and is the file that the
infile will be encoded too. If you choose an already existing file,
then it will be overwritten when the encode operation begins. So in
most cases you will probably make a new file. This requester is slightly
different from the one used to select the infile, in that you
can create new directories from it. To do so, just type in the name
of the new directory into the file requesters directory box. The
directory will be created for you. Also, you cannot choose a file by
double-clicking. This is a precaution, as existing files are
overwritten when encoding.
(4) OutFile String Box -- This is where the name of the OutFile is put.
you may type a file name manually into it.
(5) Operation Cycle Gadget -- This is where you select what UUxT will
actually do. There are four options, "Decode", "Encode", "LhAdecode",
and "LhAencode".
Decode: UUdecodes the infile.
Encode: UUencodes the infile, to the outfile.
LhAdecode: UUdecodes the infile, than de-LhA's the resulting
file.
LhAencode: LhA's the infile(s), then UUencodes the resulting
LhA file. This is the one option the requires a
file name in the "LhA Name" box.
For more detailed information on these options, refer to
"UUxT.doc".
(6) LhA Name String Box -- This is where you enter the name of the LhA file
that is created with the LhAencode option. It is REQUIRED for the
LhAencode option, however it isn't used with any other option.
(7) Once you have selected the desired Option, and the InFile, OutFile (if
encoding or LhAencoding), and LhA Name (only with LhAencode), hit the
start button. The operation will be performed, and a requester will
pop up saying wether or not it was successful.
