  2.                          The History of PowerData
  3.  
  4. This  file  contains  descriptions  of  the specific changes and fixes that
  5. occur  in  the different releases of PowerData.  The most recent version is
  6. first in the list.
  7.  
  8. The following list of abbreviations indicate the nature of the change:
  9.  
  10. MIN - Minor bug fixed
  11. MAJ - Major bug fixed
  12. NEW - New feature
  13. CH  - Change in operation
  14. OPT - Optimization or improvement of existing feature

  17. PowerData 38.200 - Intermediate version before MAJOR new release
  18.  
  19. 24-Jul-1993    CH    ARexx interface is now compulsory. In stead of the
  20.             previous non-arexx executable you now get a special
  21.             68020+ version (popular request)
  22.         OPT    Localizing code cleaned up and optimized
  23.         OPT    Miscellaneous GUI improvements, including
  24.               ╖áBackfilled window
  25.               ╖ Scalable checkbox gadgets (V39)
  26.               ╖ New-style menus (V39)
  27.               ╖ Hotkey shortcuts for gadgets
  28.         MIN    GUI Bevelboxes were not being refreshed during window
  29.             zoom operations. Fixed.
  30.         NEW    Busypointer during crunch/decrunch is now switchable
  31.             via a new checkboxágadget in the main window
  32.         CH    Distribution now includes reqtools 38.1042
  33.         NEW    Filenames are now expanded to include paths before
  34.             being submitted to pattern matching. This allows you
  35.             to use filters like "DH0{80MB}:Somedir/#?/s/#?.pp".
  36.             You can still use the old "filenames-only" method
  37.             via a checkbox gadget in the main window. The old
  38.             method was retained because it is faster.
  39.         NEW    Decrunching can now be made to work for files that do
  40.             NOT match the patterns. This allows applications to
  41.             always read crunched files, but only have those files
  42.             crunched that do match the patterns
  43.         NEW    Now also patches OpenFromLock() to provide more
  44.             completeáPowerpacker support. May cure many problems
  45.             with software failing to read Powerpacked files even
  46.             with PowerData running.
  47.         CH    ARexx port name changed to POWERDATA. Please fix
  48.             whatever ARexx scripts you have.
  49.         CH    Default temporary directory changed from POWERDATA_T:
  50.             to just T:
  51.         NEW    Distribution now includes full CatComp source
  52.         NEW    New icon for the PowerData executable. Hope you like

  56. PowerData 38.115 - Basic ARexx interface, more bugs squashed
  57.  
  58. 09-Mar-1993    MAJ/MIN    Several bugs of different nature were found in the
  59.             previous version. Hopefully I got them all now.
  60.         NEW    ARexx interface, finally! There are currently seven
  61.             commands, doing everything from quitting PowerData,
  62.             to making it show its window.
  63.         NEW    The installation scripts now ask which version of
  64.             PowerData you wish to install (Rexx, or non-Rexx).
  65.         CH    New reqtools.library once again. This time v38.1022.
  66.         NEW    Italian localization [Mirco Zanca]
  67.         NEW    Windows are locked and made to display a wait pointer
  68.             (clock image) when PowerData is either crunching
  69.             or decrunching data.

  71. PowerData 38.110 - Global crunch/decrunch switches, new prefs file format
  72.  
  73. 08-Feb-1993    NEW    Global switches enabling and disabling transparent
  74.             crunching and/or decrunching.
  75.         NEW/CH    PowerData now reports if its prefs file is mangled
  76.             when it starts up (a small bug, really :-)
  77.         CH    Prefs file format changed, allowing for more
  78.             complex filename patterns and other, future
  79.             enhancements.
  80.         MIN    Changed default hotkeys from "ctrl alt ..." to
  81.             "control alt ...". Commodities.library v37 only
  82.             understands the latter format [Finn Kettner]
  83.         CH    PowerData now comes with v38.1020 of
  84.             reqtools.library. This version is a bit newer than
  85.             the library contained in the 38.105 distribution.
  86.         MAJ    Pattern handling was not entirely consistant. An
  87.             internal buffer was set to hold patterns of 30
  88.             characters, even though patterns span much more
  89.             than that. This problem caused spurious gurus to
  90.             appear when editing the pattern gadgets.
  91.         NEW    Installer script now fully localized in French
  92.             [Reza Elghazi]

  94. PowerData 38.105 - Mostly bug fixes
  95.  
  96. 17-Jan-1993    MAJ    PowerData *required* locale.library to be present
  97.             in order to work at all. Fixed.
  98.         MIN    The evaluation version of PowerData would hang if
  99.             it could not open any one of the required libraries.
