  14.    I. Introduction
  15.  
  16.    Welcome to CDTV-Player 1.0▀. This program is designed to simplify 
  17.    use of Audio-CD's with your CDTV. Until now you've only got either 
  18.    the possibility to start the an Audio-CD on it's special screen (no
  19.    multitasking possible) or to start it from workbench by pressing the
  20.    play button. If you choose the second possibility you are not able
  21.    to acquire any information about the Audio-CD, except for the title
  22.    number. I know that there aren't so many CDTV's around the world,
  23.    but the number is increasing and hopefully this program works with
  24.    Commodore's A570/A670 CD-ROM-Drives (I'm not sure about that, since 
  25.    I haven't got the possibility to try it out, but if they use the
  26.    'cdtv.device' it's almost for sure). This program is PUBLIC-DOMAIN.
  27.    You can use it for what ever you like, but only if you copy it with
  28.    the doc-files. If you use it for professional matters, please mention

  32.    II. manual

  34.    Here's a short explanation of all gadgets:

  36.    REW    : Decreases track number (REWIND).
  37.    PLAY   : Plays actual track.
  38.    FF     : Increases track number (FAST FORWARD).
  39.    PAUSE  : Pauses track playing.
  40.    STOP   : Stops track playing.
  41.    FADE   : Fades volume up and down.
  42.    DISPLAY: There are five modes of display.
  43.             1. Track time played.
  44.             2. Track time left.
  45.             3. Overall time played.
  46.             4. Overall time left.
  47.             5. No display (save's processing time).
  48.             Mode 2&3 can only be accessed, when SINGLE is off.
  49.    SINGLE : You can choose between playing one song or the whole disk.

  51.    There is a proportional gadget on the right side of the window where
  52.    you can fine-tune the volume of the output.

  54.    The display field in the lower part of the window is divided into 
  55.    three parts:

  57.    CD-Audio: Shows actual track or total track number of disk.
  58.    Playtime: Shows time as defined with the DISPLAY-gadget.
  59.    Status  : Shows what program is doing.

  62.    III. problems
  63.  
  64.    There is a problem when introducing a new CD into the player. If the 
  65.    player does not seem to work, try to re-introduce the disk. In many
  66.    cases it will be fine then. If that does not work quit the program 
  67.    and restart it with the new disk in the drive. Please write to me
  68.    if you find any other mistakes.

  71.    IV. future applications
  72.  
  73.    First of all I'll add all the conveniences of the better CD-Player
  74.    like SHUFFLE, SCAN, PROGRAM, TIME FADE, REPEAT etc.

  76.    Then I'm thinking about a function called KARAOKE.  This is a bit more
  77.    complicated, since the text has to be one screen at the right moment.
  78.    But it would be a cheap way to use all (!) of your CD's for Karaoke.
  79.    There's actually only the problem of the lyrics' copyright, so everybody
  80.    would have to key them in for his own use.  Maybe there are some record
  81.    companies out there, who would be interested.  How about 70 minutes of
  82.    music on CD and 880KB Text & Graphics on a FLOPPY DISK?

  84.    As soon as I can get information on CD+G I would introduce this
  85.    function, too.  If somebody of Commodore is reading this, please contact
  86.    me (I've tried to contact Commodore a few times, but nobody could help
  87.    me so far).  Together with CD+G I would introduce a screen-grabber in
  88.    order to save the graphics to floppy (this might be interesting with
  89.    Madonna's forthcoming 'EROTICA'-CD).

  91.    If the program works with the A570/A670 CD-ROM-Drives, I would introduce
  92.    an AREXX-Port. This would enable other programs to use the functions
  93.    of the CDTV-Player for their own use (for example Multi-Media-
  94.    Applications).
