  12.     Mand2000D  is  the  demo version of Mand2000, a fractal exploration
  13. program  created  by  Cygnus Software.  Mand2000 is a tryware program.  You
  14. can  use  the demo version all you want, give it to your friends, put it on
  15. club  disks  and post it to bulletin boards, as long as you distribute this
  16. notice,  the  help  file  and  the  example  ARexx  scripts  with  it.  The
  17. TweenPlayer can also be distributed, subject to the same restrictions.  The
  18. pictures  supplied  on  the  demo  disk  may  be freely distributed with no
  19. restrictions.

  21.     However, this demo version has had save crippled (saving from ARexx
  22. only, no saving of fractal location information, a maximum save size, and a
  23. stripe  along the right edge of some pictures), and will occasionally bring
  24. up  a  text requester to remind you that it is a demo version.  The release
  25. version  does  save  of  course,  and  no  annoying requesters will appear.
  26. Additional   features   that   the   release   version  has  include  ARexx
  27. documentation,  much  more help, and some extra fractal programs, some with
  28. source  code.

  30.     The  full version of Mand2000 can be purchased for US $34.95 direct

  38.     A  number of changes have been made since the original (1.001) demo
  39. version.  These include:

  42.      Delete function.
  43.      Optional disabling of joystick zooming.
  44.      New ARexx commands.
  45.      New ARexx scripts.
  46.      Remembers the resolution you like to run in.

  50.      Fixed disappearing icon bug!
  51.      Fixed tween player crash on non-AGA machines running 3.0 or higher.

  55.     Most  of  these changes were put in before the release version went
  56. out.   If  you have purchased a release version of Mand2000 that lacks some
  57. of these features, please contact us for a very inexpensive upgrade.

  62.                                Installation:
  63.  
  64.     To  install the Mand2000 demo, make a directory on your hard drive,
  65. or  format  a floppy disk, and copy the Mand2000D and TweenPlayer programs,
  66. and Mand2000Demo.help to that directory.  This can be done by just dragging
  67. the  icons  to  the drawer using Workbench.  Then you should copy the ARexx
  68. scripts  to  your rexx:  directory.  Even if you don't program in ARexx you
  69. should  still  copy  these  scripts  because  they  add some very nice menu
  70. commands.   To  copy the ARexx scripts to rexx:  simply double click on the
  71. InstallRexx  icon.  You may also want to adjust the `Tool directory' in the
  72. `Set  misc' menu to point to the drawer where you install Mand2000, or else
  73. assign Mand2000:  to the installation drawer.

  77.                              Trouble shooting:
  78.  
  79.     Mand2000  runs  on all Amigas with AmigaDOS 2.0 or higher and makes
  80. full  use  of  the  AGA  chipset  when  present.   It  has  been tested for
  81. compatibility  on  Amiga  2000s,  3000s, 4000s, 500s and 1200s, with 68000,
  82. 68020,  68030  and  68040 processors, and should run on all other models as
  83. well.

  85.     If  Mand2000  fails to run properly on your machine, the problem is
  86. usually  due  to  some  other  program  on  your  Amiga which is corrupting
  87. Mand2000's  memory.   Try  removing  all  non-Commodore  programs from your
  88. WBStartup and user-startup and see if this fixes the problem.

  92.                              What is Mand2000?
  93.  
  94.     Mand2000  is  meant  to  be nothing less than the finest Mandelbrot
  95. exploration  program  available  on  any  computer.   We  have attempted to
  96. combine  speed,  power  and  simplicity  with  a  few  unique features, all
  97. designed  to  make  it  easy  for  you to discover uncharted regions of the
  98. Mandelbrot and Julia sets.

  100.     The  TweenPlayer is for playing TweenMovies, which are created from
  101. the  `Make zoom movie' menu in Mand2000D.  Read the online help for further
  102. information.

  106.                          How do you use Mand2000?
  107.  
  108.     To  start  using Mand2000, the simplest thing to do is to place the
  109. mouse  over  an interesting area, one of the areas with lots of detail, and
  110. then double click the left mouse button.  The picture will zoom in, placing
  111. the  area  under  the  mouse in the centre of the screen.  You can continue
  112. doing  this as many times as you like, searching for interesting areas.  To
  113. zoom out press `D'.  To scroll the picture around, hold down the left mouse
  114. button and drag, use the arrow keys, the numeric keypad, or a joystick.

  116.     For  full  information  on  how  to  use  Mand2000,  read  the help
  117. associated  with the individual menu items.  Just highlight a menu item and
  118. press the HELP key or press the HELP key any time a requester is active.
