  6. Extended locking for serial devices.
  7. .description
  8. Provides an extended locking mechanism for serial devices.  This allows
  9. programs to "ask" another program that is currently using a device to
  10. relinquish it.  For example, a term program could ask a fax daemon to
  11. release the serial device to allow the user to call out.
  12.  
  13. OwnDevUnit.library has become, for better or for worse, something of a
  14. defacto standard for Amiga communications software.  Most major terminal
  15. programs now support it, along with several daemons such as Getty, Welmat,
  16. and AmigaFax.
