  5. THE MENUS
  6.  
  7.     A64 Prefs is broken up into several menus.  Each having its own
  8.     function and options.  All of A64 Prefs settings and features can
  9.     be accessed with these menus.  Each menu and its options are
  10.     described in the following sections.

  13. THE PROJECT MENU

  16. NEW (RESET)
  17.  
  18.     KEY SEQUENCE: [RIGHT AMIGA] [N] (New)
  19.  
  20.     The NEW menu option allows you to reset A64 back to the BASIC
  21.     startup screen.
  22.  
  23.     When selecting NEW you will be prompted with a requester asking
  24.     you "Are sure you want to reset A64?".  Select YES to reset A64
  25.     or NO to abort the operation.
  26.  
  27.     If YES is selected the program that A64 is currently running
  28.     will be terminated and A64 will return to the BASIC startup
  29.     screen.  Essentially, this is the same thing as turning a C64 off
  30.     and then on again.

  32.     NOTES: NEW is non-destructive.  Any programs that were in memory
  33.            before the reset will still be there after the reset.
  34.  
  35.            NEW does not reset any devices connected with A64's
  36.            hardware interface (i.e., C64 disk drives and printers).
  37.            If you were using a program that used copy protection
  38.            and/or sent commands to the devices you may have to reset
  39.            them by turning them off and then on again.

  42. LOAD CONFIG

  46.     The LOAD CONFIG menu option allows you to load a previously saved
  47.     configuration file.

  49.     When selecting LOAD CONFIG you will be prompted with a file
  50.     requester.  With the file requester you can either select a
  51.     displayed file name or enter a name for the configuration file
  52.     that you wish to load.  Select OK to load the file or CANCEL to
  53.     abort the operation.

  69.     If OK is selected the requested configuration file will be loaded
  70.     and the newly loaded settings will become A64 Prefs' current

  84.     The SAVE CONFIG menu option allows you to save the current A64
  85.     Prefs settings in a configuration file.

  87.     When selecting SAVE CONFIG you will be prompted with a file
  88.     requester.  With the file requester you can either select a
  89.     displayed file name or enter a name for the configuration file
  90.     that you wish to save.  Select OK to save the file or CANCEL to
  91.     abort the operation.

  93.     If OK is selected A64 will check if the configuration file
  94.     already exists and if it does you will be prompted with another
  95.     requester asking if you want to overwrite the old file.  Select
  96.     YES to overwrite the old file or NO to abort the operation.  If
  97.     YES is selected, or if the file did not already exist then A64
  98.     will save all of A64 Prefs current settings in the configuration
  99.     file that you specified.

  101.     NOTES: The entire filename can contain any legal AmigaDOS path
  102.            name, limited to 31 characters in length.

  104.            If you save the settings with the name "A64.config" you
  105.            will force A64 to use your new settings as its default
  106.            initial settings.

  112. NAMING CONFIGURATION FILES

  114.     It is a good practice to end your configuration files with the
  115.     extension ".config".  This will help you to remember what you
  116.     named your configuration files.  For example, if you saved a
  117.     configuration file for the C64 program "PrintShop" and you named
  118.     it "PrintShop.config" then when loading the file at a future time

  131.     you would have no problem remembering what you named it.

  134. RESET CONFIG

  138.     The RESET CONFIG menu option allows you to reset A64 Prefs
  139.     current settings to their default states.

  141.     When selecting RESET CONFIG you will be prompted with a requester
  142.     asking you "Are sure you want to reset config?".  Select YES to
  143.     reset the configuration settings or NO to abort the operation.

  145.     If YES is selected, all of A64 Prefs settings will be reset to
  146.     their default states.

  148.     NOTE: The default settings set by RESET CONFIG are not
  149.           necessarily the ones currently saved in the default
  150.           configuration file "A64.config."  If you have changed this
  151.           file and you want to reset it to the default settings you
  152.           must first reset the configuration settings and then save
  153.           them with the name "A64.config."

  159. ABOUT A64

  163.     The ABOUT A64 menu option allows you to read some information
  164.     about A64.

  166.     When selecting ABOUT A64 you will be shown a screen with a
  167.     cycling blue background.  On the screen will be a requester with
  168.     some information about A64.  After you have read the information
  169.     select OK to return to A64 Prefs.

  171.     NOTE: The TAB key will NOT toggle the cycling background on and
  172.           off as it will with the title screen.

  198.     The QUIT A64 menu option allows you to quit A64.

  200.     When selecting QUIT A64 you will be prompted with a requester
  201.     asking you "Are sure you want to quit A64?".  Select YES to quit
  202.     A64 or NO to abort the operation.

  212.     The EXIT PREFS menu option will allow you to exit A64 Prefs and
  213.     return to A64.

  215.     When selecting EXIT PREFS you will be immediately returned to A64
  216.     at the exact point at which you left it.

  218.     NOTES: If you select EXIT PREFS with the key sequence
  219.            [RIGHT AMIGA] [X] you will not be returned to A64 until
  220.            you release the keys.

  222.            You can get back to A64 Prefs by pressing the [LEFT ALT]
  223.            key and the [RIGHT ALT] key simultaneously.
