  2. The manual has NOT been updated. Here is a list of new features.

  5. 1) New function: 'Insert file'. You are allowed to insert a file starting from
  6.    the cursor position. Note that here 'insert' means overwrite the previous
  7.    contents of the buffer, not shift them at the end of the inserted file.
  8.    Since Hex's main use is modify executable files, 'insert' in the usual way
  9.    would not make much sense.
  10.    Insert file currently does not affect the undo buffer. I plan to almost
  11.    rewrite the undo functions and most of Hex itself, but not in the near
  12.    future. ShareWare feedback has been absolutely insignificant to push me at
  13.    work again.

  15. 2) Configuration is no longer read/stored in the program's directory. It now
  16.    goes in S:, a more pertinent location. This way, however, if you boot from a
  17.    different disk, Hex won't find the configuration file. But there's a way to
  18.    overcome this problem: you can make your configuration the DEFAULT one. Here
  19.    is how to proceed:

  21.    - Create you favourite settings, and save configuration.
  22.    - Load 'S:Hex.config'.
  23.    - Look the first four characters of the file (currently 'HX11').
  24.    - Load 'Hex'.
  25.    - Search the string you read in Hex.config (HX11, we said).
  26.    - Insert 'S:Hex.config'.
  27.    - Save 'Hex'.

  29.    Now your settings are the DEFAULT settings. Hex.config is no longer needed
  30.    and may be deleted.

  32. 3) BackSpace was already a synonym for 'Undo', now any qualifier (Shift, Ctrl,
  33.    Alt) + BackSpace means 'Redo'. Of course the menu item 'BackSpace = Undo?'
  34.    must be selected.

  36. 4) Keymap 'h' in DEVS:keymaps is no longer needed. It is now built-in.

  38. 5) By popular demand... now available 'Save' and 'Save as...'. Note that the
  39.    shortcut Amiga-W refers to 'Save'.

  41. 6) Iconify window is correctly sized looking at the WorkBench default font.
  42.  
  43. 7) Minor bugs fixed. The only serious one was a GURU when you used ALTed keys
  44.    in the calculator.

  46. 8) Version 2.5 of req.library included in the archive.
