Express Paint is a full-featured paint package which combines some desktop
publishing and drawing functions with paint features. Some of its features
include:
-Multiple brushes or cuts active in the same project.
-Special brush distortion effects.
-No limit on the number of available fonts.
-The conservation of memory through the use of "Overlays".
-Areas of a project may be backed up selectively.
-A flexible printing interface, including poster size multiple page printing.
-Scrollable canvas allowing pictures up to 8192 pixels wide.
-The height of the canvas is limited only by memory.
-A text fill mode which allows text to be formatted in a region of any shape.
-The maximum number of colors in the palette has been increased to 64.
-Supports the oversized screen modes through the use of Overscan utilities.
(The Overscan utilities are available only on the commercial disk.)
-The ability to merge several graphic files into one image.
-An aggressive support policy, including frequent and reasonably priced
upgrades. Registered users can obtain version 1.1 for only $5.00 by sending in their 1.0 master disk.
-Supports all IFF standard formats (including EHB) except HAM.
----- The Demo Version -----
This is a crippled version of Express Paint version 1.1. It will not save
files to disk. When the Print Tool is selected, excess text will be placed
on the painting. All other functions of the Print Tool and the other tools
work just as they do with the commercial version (1.1.2). The crippled version will force an exit of the program after a predetermined number of operations have been performed by the user.
----- Important -----
Please realize that without the user's manual it will be difficult to
utilize many features of Express Paint to their greatest potential. For
example, the drawing of curves requires the use of the keyboard as well as
the mouse. Therefore, there is much more to the Circle Tool than the user can discover through the use of this demonstration version. This also applies to other important features of the program.
Version 1.2 will be available before January 1, 1988. It will add direct ColorFonts® support, and the Palette Mixer Tool will be greatly enhanced. There will be other minor enhancements as well.
----- Startup and Execution -----
The name of the disk must be ExP, in order for Express Paint to run.
Express Paint will use the fonts found in the font directory on your boot
disk. The cuts, brushes, and patterns drawers are supplied to give the user
a taste of the kinds of libraries which can be created.
