- PHIBES electric organ with 6-note polyphony
-
- made by Mikko Hyyrylainen
- created with Jeff McClintock's SynthEdit
-
-
- version 1.1 (compiled with SynthEdit 0.71)
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------
- History:
-
- v1.1
- -minor update: fixed the output from two separate mono outs to one
- stereo pair out and labeled it with more informative name (now it's
- a little bit easier to use in Cubase SX). Thanks to Sahul from
- Elogoxa group for pointing that out.
-
- v1.0
- -first official release
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Overview:
-
- Phibes electric organ tries to capture the sound of those sweet
- sixties organs. It is definitely no Hammond B3 or Vox Continental
- but rather some obscure and cheap east-european imitation of them.
- It has 9 drawbars with five different tones and, independent vibrato,
- tremolo and rotator effects and staccato mode. Even though Phibes
- organ is quite simple instrument, it is CPU-intensive with over ten
- oscillators and saturator so be patient and bounce those grooves.
- If you have a dedicated tube amp fx you should use it after This
- instrument to get some realism. Also if you like to use two hands,
- you'd better use two instances of Phibes, one for upper and other
- for lower hand.
-
-
- Controls:
-
- DRAWBARS are located at the bottom of this instrument and they are
- pushed up instead of down (so actually they are pushbars;)). ATTACK,
- DECAY, SUSTAIN and RELEASE control the amplitude. SWELL is the
- volume knob on this thing. TONE selects the type of the tone (sine,
- saw, ramp, triangle and pulse). NOISE adds the years to the sound.
-
- VIBRATO STOP sets the pitch of vibrato, DEPTH sets the intensity of
- vibrato effect and LEVEL sets the volume of vibrato. When STACCATO
- switch is on (up), the keyed notes become more sharp and percussive.
- Keep in mind, though that this is no real B3 keyclick and the effect
- is very subtle and transparent. Three knobs on the left control the
- effects: TREMOLO controls the depth of tremolo effect and ROTATOR
- controls the amount of stereo width of an auto-pan effect. SPEED
- controls the rate of these two. Again, this is nothing like real
- leslie amp but rather something cheap and tacky that tries to catch
- the essence of it :).
-
-
- IMPORTANT!!!!!
-
- If this unit starts to misbehave in some unexpected and erratic
- way, you should reset your host's sound engine.

- Phibes organ is tested with Sonar 1.3 running DirectiXer 2, Aodix 2.34,
- Psycle 1.66, and Cubase SX. It has also been reported to work in Orion,
- Logic and Massiva too. There has been some patch troubles with some
- versions of Fruityloops, but it does seem to work with old 3.1 version.
-
- Phibes organ IS A FREEWARE SO USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
