Release 1.0 README

FATE is a (scene) demo, a non-commercial product designed to win the
DemoBit'00 party held in Nitra, Slovakia (Feb. 26-27, 2000).
Mission completed. Now you are diving into the final release of your fate.
FATE features real-time rendered 3D graphics based on a hardware accelerated
engine (supporting OpenGL) mixed with other real-time calculated effects like
water dynamics, fire, particle engine, object morphing and more.
FATE also features megabytes of graphics, 3D models, sort of design and
mp3 soundtrack.
You can watch this for free and show it to as many people as you
wish ( more = better ) (refer to disclaimer paragraph for more details).
FATE also contains all our frustration of lack of time for non-work,
non-study creative life, frustration of using the three letter parody
of operating system, frustration of ignorant people around, mess in our
city, mess in our lives and frustration of the "we are never gonna win".
And at all, we simply had to create a demo. Because we are addicted to that.
For more info about demos, scene, and specially about FATE and it's genesis
simply check out our web: http://7gods.rulez.sk and let us know that you care.

Requirements:
Win32 system ( Win [95,98,2000,NT] ) (linux executable coming soon)
Pentium MMX, PII, AMD K6 or Athlon processor
at least 32MB RAM
3D graphic accelerator with correctly installed OpenGL drivers
sound card for those not-deaf-yet
And this stuff may help: (but it is not a *must*)
128MB RAM, WinNT, 32MB video memory, support for ARB_multitexture
strongly recommended

The ENGINE.CFG file...
You can specify your window size and color bit depth by modifying the
windowwidth, windowheight, colorbpp values.
To switch on/off trilinear filtering, set the value of mipfilter to 1/0.
You can force not to use OpenGL extensions by setting glextensions to 0.

Troubleshooting:
We don't have enough resources to test the demo with wide variety of hw & sw
so we definitely need some feedback from you, if you have some problems with
running our demo. (keep in mind that this is a non-commercial product)
We were able to test it with some Riva TNT and TNT2 boards, GeFORCE256
shouldn't mean any problem. Not tested with ATI Rage128, Matrox G200-G400,
Voodoo, S3 Savage, so please report any ugly misfunctioning.
A few things to know before running FATE...
= OpenGL related:
- if you are capable to run Quake3Arena game, FATE *should* work too.
(Q3A is probably the best OpenGL testing program at the moment :))
if not, please report the problem, we will try to fix it.
= Speed related:
- with 350MHz+, WinNT, 128MB RAM and 16MB 3D card you may use full texture
details in 640x480 resolution, (and it might be not smooth, blame windows)
With less memory you should lower texture details, mostly if there are
drop-outs at the beginning of each new scene caused by texture uploads.
- running demo in 16bit mode will cause most drivers to emulate stencil
buffer feature in software mode (nVidia's). This hurts, so rather sacrifice
texture quality and use 32bit mode.
= General:
- don't forget to set high volume before pressing the RUN button... :)
if soundtrack sounds a bit yerky, thank windows and it's incredible
multitasking (audioplayer runs in a separate thread)
