  1. What is OpenCandy? 
  2.  
  3. OpenCandy is a platform and network which enables software publishers 
  4. to recommend other products, during installation of their software, they 
  5. believe you will find valuable. 
  6.  
  7. Soà What is this folder, its contents, and why is it here? 
  8.  
  9. These files are only on your computer because you accepted a software 
  10. recommendation. These files are TEMPORARILY copied to a folder within 
  11. the publisher's program files directory until the recommended software 
  12. is downloaded and installation is performed. 
  13.  
  14. This folder contains: 
  15.  
  16.   * OpenCandy_Why_Is_This_Here.txt
  17.     - This text file youÆre reading. :) 
  18.     
  19.   * OCSetupHlp.dll
  20.     - This file is used to display a recommendation during the 
  21.       publisherÆs software installation and to facilitate the download 
  22.       and installation of the recommended software. This file also 
  23.       allows us to provide software publishers with *non personally 
  24.       identifiable* information such as statistics like install 
  25.       initiated and completed, country, operating system and language, 
  26.       and whether the software recommendation was accepted or not.

  28. Once the recommended softwareÆs installation is started (and regardless 
  29. of whether it is successfully completed) these files and the 'OpenCandy' 
  30. folder will be automatically deleted. 
  31.  
  32. The possible reasons this folder and its contents remain are: 
  33.  
  34.   A) You rebooted before installing the recommend software
  35.   B) You lost power before the recommended software was installed
  36.   C) Your computer exploded before the recommended software was 
  37.   installed (Then how are you reading this?) 
  38.  
  39. Feel free to delete this OpenCandy folder (and its contents) at any 
  40. time; there is no harm in doing so. If you believe this folder and its 
  41. files should have been deleted and were not (and neither A, B, or C 
  42. happened), we'd appreciate if you contacted us (see below) and told us 
  43. what you think happened. If it happens to be a bug, we'll fix it so this 
  44. doesn't happen to anyone else. Oh yeah, and we'll send you an awesome 
  45. purple t-shirt for helping us out!
