YPTF034.TXT
July 8, 1996
Fix Name:
---------
YPTF$034.SYS
Affected Machines:
------------------
760C,CD,L,LD,E,ED,EL,ELD
Applicable Operating Systems:
-----------------------------
This fix applies to the following Operating Systems:
- DOS (with or without Windows 3.1 or 3.11)
- Windows 95
Symptom:
--------
External trackpoint keyboard reset can occur while typing
on the external keyboard in the following configuration:
- TP760 (all)
- External Trackpoint keyboard attached through Y-cable or through
Dock.
- Internal Trackpoint device enabled
When the reset occurs, the keyboard LEDs flash and some keystrokes are
lost.
Fix:
----
During boot, the YPTF$034.SYS driver checks for the presence of an
external trackpoint device. If one is detected, it automatically disables
the internal trackpoint device.
Installation:
-------------
1. Copy YPTF$034.SYS to the directory of your choice on your hard
disk drive.
2. Add the following line to the beginning of your CONFIG.SYS file:
DEVICE=C:\path\YPTF$034.SYS
where path indicates the directory where installed.
3. Ensure that the internal trackpoint is enabled using ThinkPad
Features.
4. Shutdown and reboot for the change to take effect.
