  5. BEFORE YOU BEGIN

  7. Please read the README.FIRST file - found at the root level of this server - 
  8. for general information and instructions on unarchiving and uncompressing
  9. files (files with the ".sit", ".hqx", ".zip", ".tar", and ".Z" extensions).

  11. The README.BROCHURE also contains helpful descriptions of this and other
  12. software offered on the ftp server.

  15. IMAGE
  16.  
  17. This is the newest installation of the Image program.  We have added many new 
  18. features to the program which we hope you will find useful. This is the 
  19. official release of NCSA Image 3.1.1!

  22. NEW FEATURES

  24. Options to publish and subscribe have been added to this new version of Image.

  27. GENERAL NOTES
  28.  
  29. The source for Image 3.1.1 is not yet available.  The MPW C source for Image 2.0
  30. is available however in the "Image2.0" directory.  Also included is Microsoft
  31. Word documentation explaining the internal structure of the code and some notes
  32. on Image 3.0.

  34. The "misc"directory contains source code for example programs that communicate 
  35. with NCSA Image 3.0 via the DTM mechanism.  These codes run on the Crays, but 
  36. can easily be ported to other Unix platforms.

  39. BUG NOTES
  40.  
  41. (1) Copy will sometimes give fuzzy images when you paste
  42.     them back into image (occurs when the row width of
  43.     the copied section or image is odd).
  44. (2) The ruler and Protractor will not erase correctly
  45.     with magnification sometimes.
  46. (3) Printing images does not work.
