  4. These files contain the Windows Open Services Architecture / Extensions
  5. for Financial Services (WOSA/XFS) specifications (Revision 1.11) and
  6. the corresponding Software Development Kit (Revision 1.11a).  WOSA/XFS,
  7. developed by the Banking Solutions Vendor Council (BSVC), defines a
  8. client-server architecture for financial services computing, that gives
  9. access to services from Windows-based applications. This version defines
  10. standard interfaces for banking peripherals (printers, cash dispensers,
  11. PIN pads, mag stripe readers/writers, check readers).   XFS110.ZIP
  12. contains the six Microsoft Word documents that make up the WOSA/XFS
  13. specification, and SDK111A.ZIP contains the SDK, the software and
  14. header files needed to develop applications and service providers
  15. based on the specifications.  This specification and SDK are being
  16. distributed to the financial services community for continuing review
  17. and comment, which will provide input to the ongoing enhancement of
  18. WOSA/XFS.  The two enhancements that are being defined now (2nd half
  19. 1995) are:

  21.  - additional device specs and enhancements to current device specs,
  22.    to better support unattended self-service operation (ATM's, etc.)
  23.  
  24.  - definition of an OLE interface to the XFS Manager.

  26. The members of the BSVC encourage banks and other financial services
  27. companies world-wide, as well as their technology suppliers, to submit
  28. comments, questions, and requests on WOSA/XFS.  This may be done on
  29. CompuServe, in the OLE Industry Solutions forum ("GO OLESOLNS")
  30. message section, or via one of the BSVC members listed in the
  31. specifications.

  34. interested parties should contact one of the members.
