  8. Search and Replace is compatible with Windows NT/2000/XP/2003
  9. Vista & Windows 7.

  11. Separate 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available.  If you are
  12. running 64-bit (x64) windows please use the 64-bit version.

  15. 95/98/ME Users: These operating systems are no longer officially
  16. supported.

  18. NT 4 Users: Although not absolutely required, we suggest you have
  19. SP 6 installed.

  22. To install Search and Replace, follow the instructions below. 
  23.  
  24. We prefer you install via our self-installer because the installer
  25. sets up an uninstall function in Control Panel, Add-Remove
  26. Programs. If you prefer a zip file you can download one from our
  27. web site. Visit http://www.searchandreplace.com/srshareware.htm
  28. for a download link.

  30. See 'FileList.txt' for a description of the files installed. All files
  31. are put in the path of your choice. C:\Program Files\SR is the suggested 
  32. but you can change this if you like.

  36. Installation Instructions
  37. -------------------------

  39. 1. Unzip the contents of the archive into a temporary subdirectory.
  40.  
  41. 2. Run 'setupsr.exe' (32-bit version) or 'setupsr64.exe' (64-bit
  42. version) to install the program. The installer will prompt you for
  43. the path to install to. C:\Program Files\SR is the suggested
  44. default but you can use any path you wish.

  46. 3. Delete the temporary files from this zip.

  49. Uninstall Instructions
  50. ----------------------

  52. 1. Close Search and Replace if it is running.
  53.  
  54. 2. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features 
  55. (Vista)
  56.  
  57. 3. Scroll down until you see 'Search and Replace for Windows'. 
  58.  
  59. 4. Click on the Add/Remove button.

  62. Note: You might be interested in our freeware utility, HexView.
  63. HexView is a multiple document Hexadecimal viewer that can
  64. display, print, and print preview any file as a hex dump.  When
  65. installed into the same directory as Search and Replace, Search
  66. and Replace will automatically use HexView as the context viewer
  67. for binary files.  Download HexView from www.funduc.com.  It is
  68. also available from several forums on CSI and from the AOL
  69. shareware archive.
