  9. Folder Synchronize is a 'command line' path comparison &
  10. synchronization utility that can compare the files in two paths
  11. and synchronize path contents using one of 9+ synchronize
  12. methods.  
  13.  
  14. Folder Synchronize is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista
  15. (all versions).  Separate 32-bit and 64-bit versions are
  16. available.  If you are running 64-bit (x64) windows please use the
  17. 64-bit version. Thanks.

  19. Although the 32-bit version can be used on Windows versions prior
  20. to XP, those platforms no longer officially supported.
  21.  
  22. Other features include: Optional prompted synchronize dialog to
  23. let you pick which operation to perform; Switchable display (or
  24. not) of a progress meter;  A custom bitmap & message of your
  25. choice can be displayed on the screen while an operation
  26. progresses;  A 'No Cancel' switch can be used to make it less
  27. easy for a procedure to be interrupted; Require (or not)
  28. confirmation of file operations;  Complex include/exclude file
  29. masks that let you include/exclude some file or subdirectories
  30. while including others;  Multiple operations can be submitted
  31. to the program via multiple 'configuration files'.

  33. Folder Synchronize does not have a graphical user interface per
  34. se. The program does have a configurable progress meter
  35. (optional), graphical file replace/delete confirmations
  36. (optional), and a optional Synchronize Dialog that let's you chose
  37. the operation to perform.  However, the program is controlled
  38. entirely through scripts that are passed to the program executable
  39. via the command line.  Scripts are ASCII text files (PC format)
  40. that can be created with a text editor or with our freeware
  41. 'Folder Synchronize Script Editor'.
  42.  
  43. The Folder Synchronize installer creates links to 
  44.   'Folder Synchronize Help' and 
  45. to launch compiled documentation.  
  46.  
  47. In the program install directory you can use your text editor to 
  48. examine: 
  49.  
  50.  - 'FoldSyncSyntax.sfs', which is a commented sample script that
  51.     outlines all the script switches.
  52.  
  53.  - 'FoldSyncSyntax_Original.sfs', is another commented script file
  54.    outlining an alternative script syntax.
  55.  
  56. Sample scripts and test paths are in 'SampleScripts.zip'.  The
  57. scripts and samples are set up to work in subdirs under
  58. C:\Program Files\FoldSync.  If you unzip to another drive or subdirectory
  59. you will have to modify the path references in the scripts.

  61. New features in version 1.1-3.0:
  62. - Unicode support.
  63. - Progress meter, if enabled, now lists the [Action ] number
  64.   being performed.
  65. - Custom synchronize can be done, expanding on the standard 9
  66.   built in operations.
  67. - Prompted synchronize is possible. 
  68. - %%today%% switch for the Min Date Filter= and 
  69.   Max Date Filter= switches in scripts.
  70. - A more closely unified script language. 
  71. - Additional synch functions.
  72. - Prompting for 'Drive not ready' and 'Disk Full'. You 
  73.   must have Confirm Updates=1 specified for those 
  74.   prompts to be available.
  75. - Unix Compare mode (see script information).  
  76. - Environment variables supported for path names in 
  77.   Folder Synchronize syntax.
  78. - Additional Directory Toolkit script switches supported 
  79.   in the native Folder Synchronize script syntax.
  80. - Additional Filters added.
  81. - Folder Synchronize can now read Directory Toolkit
  82.   script files without modification. Additional
  83.   features were added to Folder Synchronize to
  84.   accommodate many of the Directory Toolkit script
  85.   options, including: Binary contents comparison
  86.   instead of the date/time stamp, Append to an existing
  87.   output report, Ability to customize output reports.
  88. - Sorting of the file names by name,extension,date,size
  89.   before report is generated or an update operation is
  90.   performed
  91. - Binary compare of same size files can be used instead
  92.   of date stamp check to update different files in the
  93.   target directory and in the report generation.
  94. - Custom bitmap can be displayed in the progress
  95.   window.
  96. - Progress window is displayed for the Compare
  97.   Operation
  98. - Custom message can be displayed
  99. - A log file is produced detailing all operations or
  100.   the comparison result
  101. - Updates can be confirmed by the user or made
  102.   automatically
