  7. Thank you for your interest in Funduc Software's Explorer
  8. Extensions!

  10. To install Explorer Extensions, follow the instructions below.  
  11.  
  12. We strongly recommend that you download a self-installing version
  13. of Explorer Extensions shareware from our web site,
  14. http://www.funduc.com.  The self-install version will install the
  15. program into the directory of your choice and create an uninstall
  16. option in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.  The self-installer
  17. adds no files to your computer than what you see listed in the zip
  18. here except for a small uninstall utility and an installation .log
  19. file.  Both of those files are added to the same path as where you
  20. install Explorer Extensions.

  23. Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista Installation:
  24. ------------------------------------

  26. 1 - Unzip the contents of the zip here into the subdirectory of your
  27. choice.  We suggest using 
  28.   c:\tools\fsexpext 
  29. although any subdirectory will do.
  30.  
  31. 2 - To enable the Explorer shell extension you will need to merge
  32. the file, fsexpext.reg, into the Windows registry.  If you used
  33. c:\tools\fsexpext as the subdirectory in step 1, fsexpext.reg can be
  34. merged as is.  To do this, open an Explorer view of
  35. c:\tools\fsexpext, right click on fsexpext.reg, and select "Merge".

  37. If you used another subdirectory or path in step 1, you will need to
  38. edit fsexpext.reg before merging it into the registry.  Open
  39. fsexpext.reg with a text editor such as notepad.exe and adjust all
  40. lines containing the string C:\\tools\\fsexpext\\ to the
  41. subdirectory you installed the program into.  Note that you must
  42. double the \ characters.  For example, if you unpacked the archive
  43. into the subdirectory d:\funduc\ee you would replace all instances
  44. of C:\\tools\\fsexpext\\ with d:\\funduc\\ee\\.  Once you have
  45. finished editing fsexpext.reg, merge it into the registry as
  46. described above.

  48. 3 - That's it.  On some computers you may need to close any open
  49. Explorer folder/file views and reopen them to activate the
  50. extensions.  In most cases, however, you can begin using them right
  51. away by right clicking on a file or folder.

  54. Uninstall
  55. ---------

  57. If you are not familiar with the windows registry please visit our
  58. web site and download the self-installing version.  Run that
  59. installer.  The installer will make an uninstall entry in Control
  60. Panel, Add/Remove programs.  Use that to then uninstall the program
  61. and files.

  63. If you are familiar w/ the windows registry you can uninstall
  64. manually:
  65.  
  66. 1 - Back up the Windows Registry using your customary registry
  67. backup method.

  69. 2 - Examine the registry items in fsexpext.reg and use Regedit to
  70. remove them manually.

  72. 3 - Reboot your computer
  73.  
  74. 4 - Delete the subdirectory created in setup 1 of the installation
  75. section above.
