  19.                    New Commands (aka DARPA UNIX Services)
  20.           ---------------------------------------------------------

  22. telnet   TELNET is a protocol used for making a connection to a remote system
  23.          from sdf.  You are probably using TELNET to connect to sdf at this
  24.          moment.  Please only TELNET to computers that you have authorised use.
  25.  
  26. ssh      SSH (Secure Shell) is a client used for making secure (encrypted)
  27.          connections to a remote system.  SSH also incorporates compression
  28.          which can help if you are trying to reach a host on a slow network.
  29.          Please only SSH to computers that you are authorised to use.

  31. ftp      FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL allows you to quickly transfer files between
  32.          two systems.  An improved version of this is called ncftp.
  33.  
  34. scp     Secure CoPy.  This programme allows you to copy files between 
  35.          computers using 'ssh'.
  36.  
  37. ytalk    YTALK is a multi-user chat programme.  It features split screen
  38.          chatting and a command menu.  YTALK uses the NTALK protocol.
  39.  
  40. lynx     A textual web browser and a little more, lynx can be used as an
  41.          FTP client as well.  (also try 'links')
  42.  
  43. snarf    Snarf is a really quick way to grab files from webservers or
  44.          ftpservers.  (also try 'wget' and 'curl')
  45.  
  46. irc     Internet Relay Chat
  47.  
  48. pledge   Make a pledge of support to the SDF Public Access UNIX System.
  49.          Also, pledge will tell you the current funding goals.

  52.                       Extended ARPA Member Utilities
  53.           ---------------------------------------------------------

  55. mkvhost  For ARPA members that want to join the VHOST membership tier.  It
  56.          Allows you to manage your domain and subdomains.
  57.  
  58. mkvpm    This utility allows you to manage your Virtual Pop3 Mailboxes.
  59.  
  60. tweak    Allows your to fine tune your 600mb quota.
  61.  
  62. mdns     Update your MDNS (dynamic DNS) IP address.
  63.  
  64. dues     Display your current dues status.  (This is helpful if you have
  65.          other memberships such as VHOST, DBA, VPM .. et cetera).  Note
  66.          that if you have other memberships, you will receive a friendly
  67.          reminder on the 1st of each month that your dues are due.

  70.                      Files and Directories of Importance

  73.    The quota system is used on the fileserver 'ol'.  There are three mount
  74.    areas that have filesystem quotas activated :  /arpa, /www, /ftp and /mail. 
  75.    You can use the 'quota' command to see what diskspace is available to you.
  76.    ARPA members have a 150mb quota on all four filesystems.  Although we say
  77.    ARPA gets '150mb of storage', its really 600mb.  We don't show it as that,
  78.    because its really only 150mb on four different filesystems.  While you
  79.    can use whatever space you need (/tmp has no quota) we ask that you be a
  80.    little responsible for yourself, meaning, don't hog 600mb if there isn't
  81.    any space left on a certain device.
