[VERIFY help 1 page]
VERIFY is a program to verify binary paper tapes (which have been
punched using the "PUNCH/TAPE:IMAGE" command.)
You have to be here to run the program because you have to put the tape
in the paper tape reader. To run the program, put your tape in the reader
(which is in the computer room). Then press the reader "feed" switch to
feed the tape until you get to the null frames just before your data.
Then go back to your terminal and type the following:
R VERIFY
The program will ask you for a file name. Type the name of
the file which you punched on the tape. The program will then read
the tape and compare it to the disk file. If there are any errors,
the octal value of the byte read from tape, and the corresponding
byte on disk will be typed out. If all is well, you will get a message
that the copy is good. Problems or questions to Carl Appellof 543-9275
before noon.
