===============================================================================
Welcome to Seek+Sink -- the game of strategy
that puts you in a ship to ship battle against
the notorious Admiral PC.
Both you and the Admiral will command a fleet
of five ships: a carrier, battleship, destroyer,
submarine, and PT-boat. Your objective, of
course, is to seek out the Admiral's ships and
sink them before he can sink yours.
After reading the instructions, two 10x10
playing surfaces will appear on the computer
screen. The leftmost is your defense monitor;
this is where you will place your ships.
The monitor to the right is for offense; the
Admiral's ships will be hidden there.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
===============================================================================
In order to place your ships you must specify
the coordinate and direction that each ship
will lie. Each 10x10 playing surface is
boardered by letters 'A' thru 'J' on the
vertical sides and numbers '0' thru '9' on
the horizontal sides. A coordinate consists
of a letter followed by a number.
For example: 'C5' would be
'C' down and '5' across.
The first step in placing a ship is to choose
the coordinate that one end of the ship will
be located. Then, specify the direction
that the remainder of the ship will reside.
Directions are represented by 'U' for up,
'D' for down, 'L' for left, and 'R' for right.

===============================================================================
The five ships are of different sizes
and are represented in the following way:
Carrier = CCCCC
Battleship = BBBB
Destroyer = DDD
Submarine = SSS
PT-boat = PP
The carrier is the largest ship, occuping
five coordinates. The PT-boat is the
smallest, requiring only two coordinates.
Therefore, if the carrier were placed at
'D3R' it would occupy the coordinates:
D3, D4, D5, D6, and D7. If the PT-boat
were placed at 'G4D' it would occupy
G4 and H4.

Once a ship has been placed it can be
re-positioned simply by using the up or
down arrow keys to bring the cursor to the
desired ship prompt; at that point just
re-enter the coordinate/direction.
When you have finished positioning your
ships simply press the 'Escape' (or 'Esc')
key. Admiral PC will then place his ships.
(Of course you will not know where.)
NOTE: the Escape key may be used to exit
the game, after playing has begun.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
===============================================================================
After the Admiral positions his ships the
battle begins. You will place the first
shot. Enter a coordinate on the offense
monitor (right side) that you think might
hide one of the Admiral's ships. The shot
will be placed and the effect will appear on
the screen. A 'MISS' will be represented
by a small, dim '*'. A 'HIT' will appear
as a large, bright, blinking '*'. You and
the Admiral will take turns placing shots
until one of the fleets have been destroyed.
If you hit one of the Admiral's ships,
continue placing shots until the ship sinks.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
===============================================================================
When the game is finished the Admiral
will display his remaining ships, if he won.
A statistics screen will also appear, showing
information on how your performance compares
with the Admiral. Also, a ranking of the
top players and the top scores.
