- ANGLIA DISK STANDARDS
-
-
- LOADING
- In almost all cases an Anglia disk may be BOOTED (used without loading
- workbench) or inserted after loading the WORKBENCH disk. Sometimes a
- program needs certain files that are not present on the workbench disk so
- we have adopted the following format: Any needed library or file will be
- provided on this disk in the appropriate place (ie the LIBS directory).
- This means that the program will work fine if this disk is booted but may
- not work if you have loaded workbench first. If you must load the workbench
- first then the needed files must be copied to your workbench disk (see
- FILES)
-
- PRINTING
- All of the document files on Anglia disks give you the option to PRINT by
- clicking on Printfile at the bottom of the document screen.
- PRINTING IF YOU BOOTED THIS DISK
- Preferences is included and the printer driver that is selected is GENERIC.
- With most printers all you need to do is make sure that your printer is
- ready and click on printfile, the generic driver will produce good
- text printouts on most dot matrix printers.
- You can change printer drivers easily by double clicking on the Preferences
- icon and selecting change printer. As many drivers as disk space allows are
- included on this disk.
- PRINTING AFTER LOADING WORKBENCH
- Just click on printfile at the bottom of the document screen, your
- workbench preferences will be used. (single disk drive users will be asked
- for the workbench disk)
-
- SCREEN COLOURS
- The screen colours have been chosen in order to give the best results on
- even the worst TV! you can easily change them with preferences. (this only
- applies to booted Anglia disks and only to the initial screens and document
- files, the colours used for many programs are normally set by the author
- and cannot be changed)
-
- IMPORTANT
- Not all files or programs have icons, if you can't see what your looking
- for that doesn't mean it's not there! WB2 users should select show all
- files, WB1.3 users have to use the CLI or a directory utility such as the
- PD program SID.
-
- If the program refuses to work please make sure that you have tried loading
- both ways before assuming that there is a fault.
-
- FILES
- A program that needs a special file or library will look on the system disk
- for it. (the system disk is the disk that was used first after you turned
- the Amiga on). If the file is not present on the system disk then the
- program will refuse to work, it may give you a message something like
- "Can't find REQ.library", but mostly it will just stop. If you wish to
- use such a program after loading workbench then the correct files must be
- copied to your workbench disk in the correct directory. Workbench 2 users
- have the excellent "Show all Files" menu option from the workbench screen
- which allows them to copy files from one place to another simply by
- dragging the icon. Workbench 1.3 owners will have to use the CLI unless
- they have a directory utility such as SID. In either case the file that is
- to be copied over must go into the correct directory, in general if the
- file is in the Libs directory of this disk then it must go into the Libs
- on your workbench disk. Remember that none of this is needed unless you
- insist on using the program after loading workbench.
-
- Some files and libraries that are used by a lot of programs are:
-
- NAME: NEEDS TO BE IN THE:
-
- ARP. library Libs directory
- REQ. Library ""
- ILBM. Library ""
-
- PPmore C directory
- Xicon ""
- IconX ""
-
- There are others that you will come across but these are the most common.
- Once you have them on your workbench you never need touch them again!
- We hope that this file is of some help, if you need any further information
- please phone and we will be happy to provide further assistance.
