COMMENT:A collection of <a href="/bib/89"><cite>Skeptical Inquirer</cite></a> columns and various book reviews. Gardner mostly addresses peculiar claims at the fringe of mainstream science this time, rather than more typical paranormal ideas. In the process, the book displays Gardner's philosophical side. Unfortunately, this is not what Gardner is best at; his writings are occasionally shrill, at times just as speculative or loopy as those he is criticizing. Still, flaws aside, this is an interesting collection in which Gardner fans will find much to appreciate.
