COMMENT:A collection of essays in three parts. The section on the history of technology has the theme "Our Ingenious Forebears," and it includes a debunking of "ancient Egyptian wisdom" notions, and a piece on the Iron Pillar of Delhi. A section comprised of biological essays includes discussions of cryptozoology. The last part has essays on eccentricities among scientists, sometimes quite pseudoscientific; the prevalence of hoaxes; and on credulity. Quite useful, especially for a popular readership.
