COMMENT:By a parapsychologist, this book defends the claim that psi has a lot of evidence going for it, and engages in countercriticism against skeptics. He attacks <a href="/bib/90">CSICOP</a> and skeptics such as <a href="/bibq/randi">Randi</a>, <a href="/bib/131">Hyman</a> and <a href="/bib/130">Hansel</a>. As a nontechnical source providing a pro-psi view of the field in 1991, the book is interesting. Broughton describes contemporary psi investigation as very solid research, backed up by arguments worth consideration. The result can be less than convincing, and parts where speculation about applied psi comes in read like flights of fancy, but not all of the contents are easily dismissible. It suffers from too much rhetoric, but so do some skeptical books.
