COMMENT:Although Houdini is listed as coauthor, this book was written entirely by Dunninger. The first half of the book is based on notes left to him by Houdini, and describes Houdini's investigations of several dozen psychics and mediums. The second half is devoted to similar investigations by Dunninger. This book goes for quantity rather than quality: a large number of the cases are only sketched very briefly (one or two pages), and the reader is often left wishing for more detail. The book also lacks an index and references. The best parts by far are the sections in which methods of producing mediumistic effects are discussed.
