(1) INTRODUCTION
Timber is a flexible program for palm devices with which you can log
numerical data - one entry per calendar day. There is a list view and
four graphical views. You can set a goal line for future values.
Hopefully, I designed Timber lean and mean and in the palm
spirit. Most things you can do with one tap.
I developed Timber and tested it with POSE and on a Palm V. Since the
freezing of the 0.0 beta version I use it on a Palm V myself.
Timber was developed on a LINUX system with GCC and other free (GNU
GPL) tools. One of Timbers aims is to promote GNU GPL terms on the
palm platform, which, at the moment, is dominated by commercial
software and shareware.
This version of Timber is a beta version for testing and evaluation
purposes. Please let me know of any bugs or important missing
features (address below).

(2) WARNING
THIS PROGRAM COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTIES. READ THE DOCUMENT
LICENSE.txt CONCERNING THIS ISSUE! BE ESPECIALLY AWARE OF THE FACT
THAT THE CURRENT VERSION IS BETA. Although this program has been
thoroughly designed and tested, it might cause crashes, memory leaks
or more dramatic danger to the (data) integrity of your palm
device. Be sure to regularly make backups (well, this generally is a
good advice ;-) while testing or using Timber.
DO NOT USE TIMBER ON PALM DEVICES WITH OS VERSION LOWER THAN
3.0. There is no ROM version checking in Timber, so it most probably
will simply crash.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
(3) FUTURE PLANS
I plan to make a 0.0 final release of Timber around March 31, 2000. These
are some of my plans:
Definitely missing in V0.0 BETA (too be added to final release):
- Graphity indicator in dialogs
- Automatic focus in "set goal" dialog
- Better input control in all weight fields
- ROM version check
Concerning a possible 1.0 or later version:
Wishful thinking (might be added in future releases):
- category support to log more than one type of data
- notes to each entry
- small icon for palm builtin launcher (tAIB #1001 does not work, who
know anything about that?)
Unlikely (most probably will not be added by myself):
- a conduit (anybody wishing to create one: contact me!)

(5) KNOWN PROBLEMS
After installing Timber, Launcher III does not show the Timber icon, only the
text. This seems to be a bug in Launcher III.
Solution: Change the view columns to a different value and back again,
that should work.
