  6. Delightful Mistress Madwen,
  7. She was a Lugard gel,
  8. But with a lad from Cairhein
  9. So deep in love she fell.
  10.  
  11. Merry Mistress Madwen!
  12. The twain to Cairhien fled.
  13. They sampled love's first pleasures,
  14. And quickly they were wed.*
  15.  
  16. Ambitious Mistress Madwen!
  17. A country inn they bought.
  18. They'd make their fortune with it,
  19. And would not yield for aught.
  20.  
  21. Exhausted Mistress Madwen;
  22. She'd rise up at first light,
  23. And polish all the silver
  24. Until the fall of night.
  25.  
  26. Bereaved Widow Madwen.
  27. To a gentle lad from Andor
  28. She spilled out all her sorrow
  29. With unaccustomed candor.
  30.  
  31. Determined Mistress Madwen
  32. Set out, her life to fix.
  33. She hastened back to Lugard
  34. Where we'll see her in BOOK SIX!
