Subject: [svlug] Boston Tea Party, penguin style?
Date: Fri, 30 Oct 1998 01:43:42 -0800
Opportunity of a lifetime? I say we all show up with Linux T-shirts,
penguin balloon hats, and a good dose of tact. After all, we wouldn't
mind if Microsoft gave away Office for Linux free, like Corel.

We are excited about the new Microsoft Silicon Valley Developer Center
in Palo Alto. This Center will provide an incredible arena to network
with other developers, interact with our staff, gain access to technical
training sessions, provide the latest information on development
strategies, emerging technologies, and much more.
Staying with tradition, with every new opening comes a party. Please
share in this celebration on Wednesday, November 11th. At the event, you
will find lots of interesting conversation, food, drinks, and a few
giveaway surprises along the way, like a subscription to MSDN Universal,
Microsoft WebTV, Compaq Palm Size PCs, and much more.

Rick Moen comments: The Linux community should show up and give a
friendly welcome to Microsoft. Bring Linux literature and CD
distributions to hand out. Make sure we're noticed -- but there's
no need to be the least confrontational: Welcome Microsoft to the
world of level playing fields and interoperable applications using
commodity protocols. That's the future it'll have to fit into, after
all.
Don't forget to RSVP to "DevCenter@ema-nw.com". You probably _don't_
want to use "Boston Tea Party" or such in your subject header.
