=== KEDT-MS V1.2 (10-Aug-1985) ===
This document describes new features and enhancements for the native mode
MS-DOS version of KEDT. Note: If you acquire KEDT as an ARCed file (KEDTMS.ARC),
you *must* use ARC V4.20 or later to extract the KEDT files.
Major Release Info
------------------
V1.2 -- corrects a problem that can crop up when pushing to a new shell.
New MS-DOS features
-------------------
1) Full MS-DOS directory path support is now available for all file I/O.
2) Pushing to a new MS-DOS command shell is now available.
3) MS-DOS file I/O is now utilized allowing exact file sizes. KEDT will
no longer crash when editing files smaller than 128 bytes.
General improvements
--------------------
1) The help facility has been improved.
2) Ctrl/Z termination of output files may be controlled with a set command.
3) A facility to quickly clear the screen has been added. This allows you
to hide your work if your boss or wife suddenly walks in the room (I
find this immensely useful, as I have a Rainbow at work). <Smile>
4) KEDT will now inform you if a new file is being created.
5) A function to display the current edit filename has been added.
6) A problem with cursor flicker on the Rainbow 100B has been corrected.
7) The scroll left and scroll right functions have been improved and now
move 1 tab stop instead of 1 column.
8) The <Gold 7> list, input, output, and dir commands now accept a filename
argument.
9) The <Gold> 7 help command now skips the error message display.
10) KEDT's help file is now named KEDT.HLP.
Keyboard changes
----------------
1) The scroll horizontal and scroll vertical functions now use <Gold> arrow
keys. See KEDT.DOC.
2) <F17> and <F18> are now the input and output file functions.
3) Macro definition for learn mode is now invoked with the <Main Screen> key.
The <Interrupt> key is used to push to a new shell to conform to other
RB programs in the public domain.
4) Any function key used in conjunction with <Ctrl><Shift> is ignored. This
was implemented in anticipation of future programs which run in the back-
ground that may want to trap function keys.
For further information, refer to KEDT.DOC.
