  1.     Adding the name of a particular disk (e.g. DIR A:)
  2.     will give the directory listing for that disk.  When a
  3.     filename is included on the command line (e.g. DIR PLATO.PAS), 
  4.     only its listing is displayed.  The use of wild cards, ? and *, 
  5.     is permitted in the DIR command.  All file listings include 
  6.     their size in bytes and the time and date that they were last 
  7.     modified.
