  1.     The VERIFY option causes MS-DOS to verify that the 
  2.     writing on the destination disk takes place properly.  
  3.     Recording errors while running COPY are rare, but 
  4.     this may be especially useful when critical data is being 
  5.     copied.  This will also cause COPY to execute more slowly
  6.     since MS-DOS checks each entry.
