The easiest way to conceptualize the drawing program is in the
following way:
You are provided with the following tools:
2 paint brushes
4 cans of paint (high resolution mode)
3 colors of paint (red, green, and blue)
Each of the four cans of paint can contain a mixture of the three
colors provided, in any proportions. Each of the two paint brushes can
contain paint from one of the four cans of paint. You can paint (draw)
with either of the two paint brushes at any time, or you can just move
a paint brush to a new position on the screen without painting at all.
Each of the two paint brushes has a name, which is derived from the
color of the paint currently on the brush -- the "Primary Drawing
Color" and the "Secondary Drawing Color". The Primary Drawing Color is
used mainly to paint foreground colors, such as lines and shapes. The
Secondary Drawing Color is used primarily to paint the background
color, which is useful in "erasing" some- thing which has been painted
in the Primary Drawing Color. To erase something, it is simply
"covered up" with the background color by painting over it.
To paint with one of the two brushes, press the [PF1] key to paint with
the Primary Drawing Color, or the [PF2] key to paint with the Secondary
Drawing Color. Then use the cursor control keys to draw a line in the
desired directions. To stop drawing (i.e. to just move the arrow),
press the [PF3] key. To use a new paint color on one of the two brushes,
it must be dipped in a different paint can. To do this, the user must
follow these steps:
1) Press the [Do] key. The Main Menu will be displayed, with a blinking
box around the "Drawing Options" choice.
2) Press the [Select] key. The Options Menu will be displayed, with a
blinking box around the "Select Primary Drawing Color" choice.
3) To change the Primary Drawing Color, press the [Select] key. The
Primary Drawing Color frame will be displayed, containing a row of
four boxes with a blinking box around one of them. Each of these
boxes represents a can of paint, and the paint color which is
currently in that can. The blinking box represents the paint color
that is currently being used for the Primary Drawing Color. The
bar graph and large box below represent the mixture of colors in
the currently selected paint can.
4) To select a new Primary Drawing Color, use the Left and Right Arrow
keys to position the blinking box over the new paint color that you
wish to use. Then press the [Select] key.
To change the Secondary Drawing Color instead, simply press the Down
Arrow key once before pressing the [Select] key at step 3 above.
To mix a new paint color in one or more of the paint cans, perform
steps 1, 2, and 3 above. Then press the Down Arrow key until the
blinking box is over color proportion that you wish to change. Use the
Right and Left Arrow keys to increase or decrease that color's
proportion. The bar labeled MONO is used for adjusting the gray level
of monochrome "colors", and also for setting the amount of green in
single monitor color systems. The bar labeled GREEN is used for
setting the amount of green in dual monitor systems.
IMPORTANT: WHENEVER YOU CHANGE THE COLOR PROPORTIONS IN A PAINT CAN,
ALL AREAS OF THE SCREEN THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY PAINTED FROM THAT
PAINT CAN WILL ALSO CHANGE TO THE NEW COLOR.
