  1. When you arrive at the main menu you will see a prompt which looks something
  2. like one of the following:

  5. BASE>
  6. !DIR>
  7. BASE!DIR>
  8.  
  9. In the first case, there is neither a current base nor a current directory
  10. selected.  In the second case, BASE is the currently selected base.  In
  11. the third, DIR is the current directory whereas there is no current 
  12. message base.  Finally, in the fourth case, BASE is the current base and
  13. DIR is the current directory.  This help file will deal only with the
  14. current base. The examples will only use the first and/or second cases.

  16. When you begin, there will be no message base selected.  You must select
  17. one of the available bases.  Enter BASES to see the bases to which you
  18. have access.  Note that for some of these bases, you may only be able
  19. to read messages (as opposed to reading and posting).  When you use the
  20. BASES command, you will be given the name of the base, a description
  21. of the type of discussion being held, the number of messages on the base
  22. and the number of new messages since your last call.

  24. To select a base, you use the GO command, such as:
  25. > GO AMIGA
  26. or, you just enter the name of the base:
  27. > AMIGA
  28. In addition, you only need to enter an identifying portion of the base's name.
  29. For example, the following would also select base AMIGA:
  30. > GO AMI
  31. > AMIG
  32.  
  33. To read messages, use the READ command.  For more help with reading messages,
  34. enter HELP READ at the main menu.

  36. To post a message on the current base, use the POST command.  You will see
  37. a prompt:
  38. Title >
  39. Enter a suitable title for this message.  You will now be able to enter
  40. your message.  For further information on editing messages, see the
  41. appropriate help file for the editor which you are using.
