  1. Changes from Version 2.00 to Version 2.11:
  2. ------------------------------------------

  4.      Version 2.11 is a minor upgrade, intended mainly to provide 2.0
  5. compatibility and support for various 2.0 features.  It also fixes a couple
  6. of bugs and inconsistences with some ARexx commands.
  7.  
  8.      IMPORTANT:  The preferences file format has changed.
  9.  
  10.      'Liner had three bugs dealing with 2.0.  Font support was poor (the
  11. title bar would 'hang over' the text when using a large font, and fonts not
  12. 8 pixels wide would cause 'Liner to act weird when highlighting, moving the
  13. cursor, etc.).    The method by which the overscan screen size was determined
  14. would cause problems if the user was using a large, scrollable Workbench
  15. screen.  Also, the file requestor, YAFR, had a problem determining what
  16. devices were hooked up.
  17.  
  18.      Version 2.11 has fixed the first two problems (overscan screen size is
  19. now determined in a 2.0-friendly way, and _both_ vertical and horizontal
  20. overscanning is supported), although a line will 'run off the end' if the
  21. number of characters in that line is greater than the number of characters
  22. that can be printed on one line in that font (e.g. if you're using a
  23. 640x200 screen and a font that can print 70 characters on that sized
  24. screen, and try and have a line with more than 70 characters, problems will
  25. occur).  I've decided to let this go until the next version, when I plan to
  26. incorporate word-wrapping into 'Liner and do away with "continuations";  it
  27. will then be trivial to fix as opposed to now.

  29.      Version 2.11 incorporates several System 2.0 features.  The 2.0 file
  30. requestor is used (replacing YAFR, which takes care of the third bug),
  31. along with 2.0 gadgets and menus.  Not only does this give 'Liner that 2.0
  32. (3D) look, it also reduces the size of 'Liner to 58K (version 2.00 was
  33. 74K).

  35.      There have been several changes regarding screen resolutions
  36. supported.  The "Screen Size" menu item is gone ('Liner just opens to the
  37. Workbench screen size automatically), as is the "Interlaced" flag.  There
  38. is now a "Screen Type" menu item with six subitems:  non-interlaced,
  39. interlaced, productivity, productivity-interlaced, A2024 10Hz and A2024
  40. 15Hz (both 10Hz and 15Hz give the same screen resolution, but 15Hz has less
  41. of the 'paneling' effect while scrolling than 10Hz, although it takes up
  42. more bandwidth).  There are three other subitems that let you choose the
  43. display frequency:  NTSC (60Hz, the default in North America), PAL (50Hz,
  44. the default in most of the rest of the world), and Default (which uses
  45. whatever the hardware default is for your machine).  These two items only
  46. have meaning when using non-interlaced or interlaced displays;    the other
  47. four by their nature default to your hardware defaults (this is taken care
  48. of automatically when you switch to one of these modes).  Also, the color
  49. requestor will reflect the limited color choices available in the
  50. productivity modes when 'Liner is in one of those modes.
