  5.           In the new  version 2.1 the  length of  a file will no longer
  6.           change if you use the OPT B option.  This caused some trouble
  7.           if you use compressed files.  Thangs to  Jeff Christensen for
  8.           reporting this bug.

  12.           The program  ATCopy2.0 is  an update for the version 1.0. But
  13.           this new version is SHAREWARE instead of PD. If you find this
  14.           program  useful  and  use  it  regular,  please send $10 ( or

  23.           The program may be distributed for non-profit only  ( a price
  24.           of more  than $7  per diskette  is surely no more a self cost
  25.           price ! ) and this manual is  also copied.  ( You are allowed
  26.           to copy  only the program without the manual to your harddisk
  27.           or your workdisk, but you are not permitted to distribute the
  28.           software in this form! ) If you want to include this software
  29.           in an other library,  than in  the one  of Fred  Fish, please
  30.           contact me frist.

  32.           Surely everyone,  who have an Amiga with an XT/AT Board ( the
  33.           older SideCar works well  too ), knows  it is  principle pos-
  34.           sible to copy files between the two computers. But the way to
  35.           do this is not very comfortable.  In the  new version  of the
  36.           Janus.library  ( 2.63  respectively  33.1 ) you can use wild-
  37.           cards, but only in one  direction  ( form  the  XT/AT  to the
  38.           Amiga ). Let's  say you  want to  copy several files from the
  39.           Amiga to the XT/AT, you have to copy each file seperatly. The
  40.           first relase  of ATCopy  produced a scriptfile with the sepe-
  41.           rate commands. Now we skip this step and  translate the files
  42.           direct through  the socalled Dual-Ported-RAM. The program has
  43.           an icon and can be startet from the  workbench. If  you start
  44.           the program  without any  parameters, the files will be asked
  45.           for interactiv by the well known  ARP-Filerequester. From the
  46.           CLI you  are able  to specify  beside the filenames two other
  47.           parameters.

  49.                USAGE: ATCopy Files...,TO/K,OPT/K
  50.  
  51.           Files...  means a list of filenames, the keyword
  52.  
  53.           TO        specify the PC-path  ( for  example  <TO  A:> means
  54.                     that all  files are  send to the floppy A: . If you
  55.                     don't specify the keyword  TO,  the  files  will be
  56.                     send  to  the  current  PC-path. )  and  after  the
  57.                     keyword
  58.  
  59.           OPT       you can specify one ( and only one ) of  the follow
  60.                     options.
  61.  
  62.                B    Translate  the  files  binary  ( no  conversion  of
  63.                     characters  and  CR's  will  not  be  translated in
  64.                     CRLF's. )
  65.  
  66.                CR   Translate the  files with conversion of characters,
  67.                     but also CR's will not be translated in CRLF'.
  68.  
  69.                NC   Translate  the  files  binary  and  CR's   will  be
  70.                     translated in CRLF's.
  71.  
  72.           If you don't specify the keyword OPT the files will be trans-
  73.           lated by full conversion. This means both conversion of char-
  74.           acters and CR's will be translated in CRLF's. This is the way
  75.           the new programs AREAD  and  AWRITE  works.  These  files are
  76.           distributed by Commodore with the XT/AT Board. If you use the
  77.           program  ATCopy  from  the  workbench  you  can't  ( at  this
  78.           time ? ) use  the keywords  TO and  OPT. The  program use the
  79.           standards ( current directory and full conversion ).

  81.           INSTALLATION
  82.  
  83.           On the diskette you will find a subdirectory  called PC. This
  84.           directory   contain   three   programs   AT.EXE,  XT.EXE  and
  85.           PCCOPY.EXE. At least two of this programs you must copy by

  87.                AREAD DF0:ATCopy/PC/name.EXE A:name.EXE /B
  88.  
  89.           to  the  XT/AT.  In  each  case  you  will  need  the program
  90.           PCCOPY.EXE and  it depends  on your  board the file XT.EXE or
  91.           AT.EXE ( who had thought this ? ). The program  PCCOPY.EXE is
  92.           memoryresident and  need start  only once, for example in the
  93.           AUTOEXEC.BAT ( this is the  Startup-Sequence of  the XT/AT ).
  94.           The  programs  XT.EXE  and  AT.EXE  are  called  by the Amiga
  95.           program ATCopy. Therefore it is necessary  that at  this time
  96.           no program  is running.  You are  in the CLI of the XT/AT and
  97.           you are able to start a new program.  This limitation  is not
  98.           very well,  but I don't know how to start a PC-Interrupt from
  99.           my own Amiga-program or how to start a  program at  the XT/AT
  100.           by a  hotkey let's say ALT-2. If someone knows details on one
  101.           of these questions, please write me a short note. I  think it
  102.           could be an other way of pay the SHAREWARE.

  104.           The usage  from the  Amiga is already descripted above and so
  105.           it's not necessary to repeat it again.
  106.  
  107.           NOTE:     The  program  needs  the   ARP.library  ( at  least
  108.                     version 39. ).
  109.  
  110.           Please  notice  that  on  an  XT/AT  you  can't  use  all the
  111.           characters in filenames that are available for the  Amiga. In
  112.           fact the  space, nationalcharacters  or the  sqare braces are
  113.           not supported.  Please  notice  that  also  there  are strict
  114.           limitations in  the lenght of the filename and the extension.
  115.           Only one extension with 3 characters and 8  characters before
  116.           the  dot  "."  are  allowed. You can't use filenames starting
  117.           with a dot. so ".info" is no legal filename and the two names
  118.           "DemoDatei.info" and  "DEMODATE.INF" specify the same file on
  119.           an XT/AT ! 
  120.  
  121.           Everyone who had paid the SHAREWARE will get updates as quick
  122.           as possible and  even can get  the soure if  he/she want  it.
  123.           Please give me a short description of your enviroment. I need
  124.           this because if the program wont work in a special enviroment
  125.           it is easyer for  me to send  the new version first to  these
  126.           people who have this special enviroment.

  128.           Bugreports or improvements are welcome.

  130.           I hope  that the  translation from  the Amiga to the XT/AT is
  131.           easyer using this program.

  133.           My program  use  parts  of  the  ARP.library  ( especialy the
  134.           Filerequester and  the routine  GADS ). Without  this help it
  135.           had been ( nearly )  inpossible  to  write  the  program. I'm
  136.           sorry,  but  the  informations  by the Janus.library are very
  137.           rarely. Therefore it can be  that  the  program  ATCopy don't
  138.           work in  all parts  on all configurations. ( I have tested it
  139.           on my own Amiga 2000 with AT Board and on an Amiga  1000 with
  140.           SideCar. I don't had access to an XT Board. )

  142.           P.S. There  is  one  more  limitation by starting the program
  143.                from the workbench. You can't specify more than one TOOL
  144.                by "SHIFT Left Mouse". The first TOOL will work with all
  145.                the PROJECTS  you had  specified and  the reminder TOOLS
  146.                will be skiped.

  148.                Solution: Don't specify any files by "SHIFT Left Mouse".
  149.                          The program will ask you for each file  by the
  150.                          ARP-Filerequester.
