This is intended to be a relatively complete list of the
idiosyncrasies known or suspected with TEXTRA.
Eventually, I'd like to completely eradicate this list,
but <sigh!> all in due time. For now, take heed of hither...
--------------------------------------------------------------
In v1.15 the Edit Preferences "Strip extra lines on SAVE"
option was removed because of an incompatibility with Marks
that was not fixable quickly. I'm questioning the usefulness
of the option; feel free to let me know if it's a favorite.
Enough votes (won't take many) and I'll look further into
resolving the issues.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I've heard the cries of folks who want to use Textra
with offline reader programs (other than Paul Kienitz's
Q-Blue... Textra 1.14 introduced support for that one). The
problem occurs when Textra is running already. The
'SmartLaunch' feature causes the Textra that the reader
program executed to exit prematurely (all it does is tell
the already-running Textra the names, if any, if the files
that were passed to it). The offline mail reader usually
expect the editor they launched will not exit until the
user is done editing.
For now I can only offer this: in all versions of Textra
that have SmartLaunch, it has been an undocumented feature
that when it is launched, if it finds a file called
'ram:Textra.replicate', it will NOT SmartLaunch into a
currently running Textra, and WILL run as a fully
independant program with it's own 'Windows' menu. The one
current hitch is that only the first-launched editor will
have access to ARexx. Hopefully, I'll have this remedied in
1.16. (I just used this for debugging... no idea it would
actually be useful.)
