- MegaD is a very powerful and versatile directory utility. It does not play
- by the rules set by the gambit of other directory utilities, available for
- the Amiga. For this reason, A great deal of time has been spent on
- documentation. You will find three files of documentation.
-
- MegaD.Doc
- This file is an explanation of all of the features and commands
- of MegaD.
- MegaD.Tutorial
- This file provides a step by step approach to all of the features
- and commands of MegaD. If you are total new to MegaD, this is
- the best place to start.
- Rambling_on
- This file contains a brief discussion of how MegaD came to be and
- a few commonly asked questions. It will be updated with answers
- to new questions as they are asked. This file was also
- compressed using Lha, this was done to allow this archive to
- unpack to an OFS (Old File System) disk.
-
- There is a file titled, "Example.dic". This file show you how a
- dictionary file can be created. This file changes six titles found in the
- Main Control Window. The purpose of a dictionary file can be to modify a
- few titles, to suit your task or to completely translate MegaD to a new
- langauge. There is also an offer of a lifetime registration to MegaD, by
- providing a translated dictionary file to the author of MegaD. Further
- information can be found in the MegaD.Doc file about this.
-
- Incompatibility with the old Workbench 1.3:
- MegaD is both 1.3 and 2.0 compatible. There are two problems when
- using MegaD under the older 1.3 operating system.
- One: the 'Relabel' command will not work.
- Two: Destinations for external programs are not set properly.
- Programs such as Lha will not send the archived program to
- the MegaD Destination Window. It usually sends it to the
- drive that the operating system was booted from.
-
- It is very unlikely that the next version of MegaD will be 1.3 compatible.
- If your not using 2.0, your missing out on a lot of great improvements. I
- will not be cross developing for the two operating systems after this
- release.
-
- The shareware version of MegaD 2.00 will not read or write the preference
- file. This limits the modification of MegaD to suit your want to the
- current running of the program. All settings, additions and modification
- done to MegaD will be lost, once you quit the program. As you will see,
- MegaD was made to be changed to suit your taste.
-
- The shareware version of MegaD 2.00 will start to disable the Keypad
- Command Gadgets after running for five minutes. It will disable one gadget
- each minute after the first five minutes, it will continue to do so until
- all Keypad Command Gadgets become disabled.
-
- To receive a registered version of MegaD, Read the Registration section of
- the MegaD.Doc file then fill out the MegaD.Reg_Form found in this archive.
-
- I have put much effort into providing the Amiga community with a very
- powerful program. To date, over three years of my spare time has been put
- into this project. I have no desire to simply, give it away. I have every
- intention to support registered users to my best ability. Examples of
- this:
-
- Registered users have been using MegaD V1.10 for the last two years.
- This version was never released to Shareware.
-
- They have received letters informing them about the progress of MegaD
- 2.00.
-
- I have always placed the highest priority on registered users request.
-
- I have a number of future enhancements to add to MegaD. One of the
- enhancements is ARexx. Each future Shareware version of MegaD will be
- disabled more than the last version. As I have said, "I have no desire to
- simply, give it away."
-
- Overlays were originally planed to be implemented with this version. This
- would have save system memory by allowed sections of MegaDs' program code
- to be swaped in and out of memory, while only the necessary code would stay
- in memory. A last minute bug was found that only occurs while the Overlay
- Manager is being used. I have decided to release MegaD 2.00 without using
- overlays.
-
- The original MegaD 2.00 archive was released with the below listed files:

- Example.dic 2,100 * MegaD.info 626 *
