  4. If you are having problems

  8. Please note that we cannot guarantee that all programs and data files
  9. on this disc will be useable on your system, indeed it is highly unlikely
  10. that any system will be able to access or run *every* file on this CD.
  11.  
  12. There are several reasons for this:
  13.  
  14.  
  15. 1. RAM (Random Access Memory)
  16. -----------------------------
  17.  
  18. The CDTV has 1Mb (Megabyte) of RAM, the Amiga CD³² has 2Mb of RAM. Other
  19. Amiga/CD systems will have varying amounts of RAM.
  20.  
  21. Some programs will require more RAM than this (for example, one version of
  22. UChess requires more than 12Mb of RAM!).
  23.  
  24. Expansion memory is available for most Amiga systems, please contact your
  25. dealer, or Almathera for pricing.

  28. 2. Kickstart version
  29. --------------------
  30.  
  31. The Amiga Operating System software is contained in a custom chip called
  32. the Kickstart ROM. There are several versions of this depending on which
  33. machine you have and how old it is. Current versions are:
  34.

  36.    1.2  - Older A500s.  Not supported by CDPD
  37.    1.3  - A500s and CDTV
  38.    2.04 - A500 Plus, A600, A3000, etc.
  39.    3.0  - A1200,A4000, CD³²
  40.

  42. Most software written to support 1.2 and 1.3 Kickstart will work on
  43. the newer 2.04 and 3.0 versions, however, software written for higher
  44. versions will in most cases NOT work with earlier ROM versions.

  46. The A500,A1500,A2000 Amigas are upgradable to 2.04 Kickstart with a simple
  47. ROM change. Contact your dealer or Almathera for further information.

  49. The CDTV is upgradable to 2.04 Kickstart, however currently this upgrade
  50. is only available to registered developers. Contact your local Commodore
  51. office (In the UK, it's 0628 770088), and try and get this daft policy
  52. changed.

  55. 3. Controllers/Keyboards/Other Add-ons
  56. --------------------------------------

  58. Much of the software on this disk will work better with a mouse or trackball,
  59. and a keyboard is strongly reccommended for many programs. Other programs
  60. require specific hardware, such as floppy disk drives, hard disks, tapestreamers,
  61. etc.

  64. Despite this, some (albeit very few) programs on this disk may just not work.
  65. There are tens of thousands of files on this disc and it is impossible for us
  66. to test even a significant percentage of them. We cannot be held responsible for other
  67. peoples bad programming.
  68.  
  69. Almathera cannot give any technical support for any of the public domain programs
  70. contained on this CD. If you require help with a Public Domain program, read the
  71. documentation and contact the author.

  73. Please note that many programs are classified as 'Shareware'. If you like and
  74. use these programs, you are morally obliged to register the software with
  75. the author, usually requiring a small payment. Purchase of this disc does not
  76. give you the right to use such software without the correct payments.
