Greetings Addresser user:
As promised, here is Release 2.0 of Addresser. Here are a few things that
are not included in the documentation that I think you should know.
1) Because of the unexpected costs of distributing Addresser 2.0, I have
raised my suggested shareware donation up to $15.00. If you feel this is
a bit steep, let me know.
2) I suggest that you print and fill out the Print.Me file and send it to me
if you want the next revision of Addresser (which I am now working on).
The information you provide in the form will help me out in deciding what
new features I should implement, and in diagnosing any problems you may
have. Thanks
3) If you are an avid modem user and wish to spread Addresser around, I have
an arcive containing all the files needed for release 2.0 of Addresser,
titled Addresser.LHA. Feel free to upload it wherever you want to.
4) The PrintSet.TXT file should help you out in setting Addresser 2.0's
printer options. First, set your printer and preferences to your
printer's standard printing mode (no NLQ, Pica pitch, etc.) Then print
the file out (it works best on really thin printer paper). Then use the
chart that is printed out to determine label/envelope line and column
width and spacing. Hope this helps out.
5) For those of you who liked the old Addresser icon, you will find it in
the Old Icons drawer. Use the CLI copy Old.info to your Addresser
directory, delete Addresser.Info, and rename Old.info to Addresser.info.
6) Just as I was about to release this version of Addresser, I was informed
of problems with using it with AmigaDOS 2.0's public screens. After some
testing, I discovered that Addresser works well on a public screen if you
take the following precaution:
Keep the Addresser window at the top left-hand corner of the
screen. Addresser 2,0 checks the size of the WorkBench screen
and re-positions the window if it will open past the bounds of
the WorkBench screen. If you open a public screen that is
smaller than the WorkBench screen, it may crash if the position
goes past the size of the public screen.
I am currently working on a fix for this problem and it will be available
as a bug fix as soon as I can fix it. Please let me know if you are
having problems with Addresser and public screens, and I will send along
the bug fix once it's done. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I would like to offer a special personal thanks to all the Addresser 2.0 beta
testers (in no particular order):
Charlene McNulty
Armando Oliva
Fred Hamilton
John Dyer
