††Printing using moveable type as opposed to one-piece printing plates was first introduced by the Chinaman Bi Sheng between 1041 and 1049 AD. The individual letters were made of baked clay, and then set into a base using resin to hold them in place. In 1447 a German, Johannes Gutenberg, developed a moveable type printing press using metal letters. It was used to print the first Latin Bible.
Unfortunately Gutenberg did not make any money from his invention and was forced to give the machine away.
