The embryos produced may then either be implanted into the womb of an infertile woman, or be used for research. The firstbaby to be born by IVF was Louise Brown, who was born in England in 1978.
Embryos formed by IVF can also be stored in a frozen state and implanted later. As a result, it is now possible to freeze the embryos of twins and implant them at different times.
