†Auguste M. & Louis J. Lumiere (1862 - 1954 & 1864 - 1948)
The Lumiere brothers found a way to project moving images. They built a 'cinematograph', based on Edison's kinetoscope, which was a portable camera and projector. They also made the films to be showed on the machine, and displayed their first movies in a Paris cafe in 1895. They went on to produce the first commercial colour photography system for amateur photographers in 1907.
